I have a BS in mathematics and graduated Summa Cum Laude. As such, several of the classes dealt with discrete math concepts such as logic and set theory, and counting and probability techniques. I am a certified mathematics teacher in both Colorado and NJ with several years of classroom and tutoring experience. Prior to teaching, my professional background was in finance, banking, and information technology. From a teaching and tutoring standpoint, I am always patient and encouraging. In addition, I try to foster a learning environment that motivates and builds success. I take pleasur [more]

I took Discrete Math in college, and I actually got into the tutoring business because when my professor was looking to recommend a student tutor, she dropped my name for the position. This was an unsolicited recommendation as well, so I believe this speaks to my ability in the topic. I was then one of the few tutors at my college's Math Excel Center who was capable of teaching the subject, so I was able to get plenty of experience in tutoring the subject as well. The best tutor isn't the one that you come back and see every week. The best tutor is the last one that you will ever need to see. [more]

I'm an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of mathematical concepts to students of all levels. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics, an MBA in Finance, and a PhD in Research Methods & Statistics, with emphasis in Finance. I've helped tutor a number of students before I found Wyzant.com and can provide [more]

Discrete mathematics is gateway course to higher level mathematics (beyond calculus and differential equations). One starts to learn about natural numbers, integers, and rational numbers and a couple of formal proof techniques come with these knowledge - mathematical induction and proof by contradiction, which really are a starting place to develop more advanced topics in pure maths, such as real numbers, hence calculus. I have a degree in pure math. I genuinely believe that anybody can master (and enjoy) basic mathematics if given a suitable guidance. Getting a private tutor happens to be the [more]
