A Modest Musician...

I take ear training very seriously. I'm bothered by vibrations within notes. I was taught how to tune an instrument properly, keeping in mind that the tuning note is A-440 (Concert A). I am able to, for lack of better phrasing, "pick notes out of the sky" because I study the sound and note, and I internalize the sound and match the sound with whatever note is being played. I've been told by quite a few music teachers that I may have perfect pitch. I majored in Fine Arts with a concentration in Music Performance in piano performance. [more]

Creative and Resourceful Special Needs, Computer, and Music Tutor

I learned ear training as part of my degree in Music. The Solfege method of sightsinging and ear training is the most effective teaching technique. It teaches you to associate pitches and intervals from any point. Ear training is the most important aspect of a musician's development as you train your ears and not your eyes to send the information to your brain. I have a Master's and Maryland certification in Special Education from the University of Maryland College Park (while living overseas in Germany), awarded in June 2012. While earning my degree, I worked as a paraprofessional in the [more]

My name is Natalie, and I'm an undergraduate college student in northeast DC studying music education. I'm particularly focusing on early instrumental education, though I am taking classes in music history, theory, general music education, and general education. My degree will allow [more]

I have taken four college ear training courses at a top-20 music school. I have also taken jazz arranging and composition classes that help immensely with ear training. I teach students ear training in my lessons, which I have been teaching for 2 years. I am equally at home in creative and analytical tutoring settings. My undergraduate degree is in music performance. I taught saxophone and clarinet lessons, incorporating music theory, history, and compositional subjects in these lessons. Subsequently, I received an MBA and MA in arts management. This diverse training and experience enables me [more]

Music Teacher / Brass Lessons

I was a tutor for the freshman and sophomore level ear training classes at my university. I was the only student to go through all of the ear training classes with an A+ on every dictation exam. I am a band director in NW Ohio and I teach around 300 students every day. I give private lessons to my students as well as a few others in the area.
