I've tutored students from grade school to college levels, up to and including Calculus II and College Physics. Whether I am working with fellow students at Penn State's Learning Center or students at home, my passion for education comes through in my teaching methods, as I believe that all students have the ability to learn a subject as long as it is presented to them in a manner they are able to grasp. I use both analytical as well as graphical methods as needed to cater to each student. Ha... [more]

For as long as I can remember, I've loved teaching. I began as a peer tutor of Spanish and math in high school, and later I made a living teaching English to locals and Japanese to fellow foreigners during the four years I lived in Japan after graduation from college. After returning to the U.S., I spent two years teaching "behind the scenes" as an author and editor of online accounting homework problems for Aplia (part of Cengage Learning). I now spend most of my days offering standardized t... [more]

My passion for teaching others comes from my own learning experiences, and the great teachers I personally had throughout my education. In sophomore year of high school, I struggled with my honors chemistry class. I was not aware of how difficult a class like that can be, especially for someone like me who had not taken chemistry before. I failed my first exam horribly, despite feeling okay about it after taking it. Having never failed an exam before, I wanted to change classes. However, my t... [more]

I graduated from Washington State University in May 2012 with a B.S. in Theoretical Mathematics and a minor in Physics. Going through this difficult process with a wife and two young children, I recognize the challenges modern families face. Since graduating, I have started helping friends and other students with their studies, and found I have quite a knack for breaking down complex ideas and making them easy to understand. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and I can honestly say that tutoring... [more]

I have tutored elementary math for 12 years. I know many techniques that help children learn and use various techniques to help children memorize their time tables. To master math it takes repetition and a strong ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. I help students master the basics and show them many ways to generate the correct answer, as often times there are two or more ways to solve a problem. Once those basics are mastered, then math becomes fun and students are ready to be challenged. [more]
