I am a first grade certified teacher in the public school system. The last two years, I also taught 4th grade in the public school system. Before teaching, I worked in the home health department and was a live-in nanny for 4 years. Currently, I am teaching all first grade subjects, but in the past I was in a departmentalized setting, where we switched classes and I only taught Writing and Social Studies. One reason why I like tutoring is that I am able to have the one-on-one interacti... [more]

I was an elementary math and middle school math tutor throughout high school. My senior year, I proposed the idea of my Calculus class taking a group of advanced and gifted 5th graders and teaching them basic algebra skills to prepare them for advanced math in middle school. My teacher took my idea to heart and we each paired off with a 5th grader. The plan went off without a hitch, the students were able to master between 5 and 10 lessons in the three weeks that we worked with them all because they were given individual attention and encouragement. I now volunteer at a daycare center in Norfo [more]

This balance first surfaced when I was in middle school when I began to tutor and mentor younger students. In high school and in college, I continued to volunteer in aft [more]

I had trouble with math when I was in elementary school, so I can understand the struggles many children have with elementary school math. I have become a math teacher, and I have helped many students improve their math scores. I teach by gently coaching a student along. We work on problems together and the student then practices by himself while I am there to answer questions. I try and make the class enjoyable for students, and it works! Tutoring is all I do. I have taught English as a Second Language online, with students of all ages all over the world. I work with students local in [more]
