Hi! I am a Long Beach Poly PACE alumna and graduate from UCI (double majored in cognitive science and philosophy) willing to help out high school students with their math skills, especially those struggling in Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2/Trig. Math has always been a strong point of mine, and I have always enjoyed helping others improve their math skills by making the subject as painless as possible. While at Poly I was nominated for the Pursuit of Excellence award (the hig... [more]

We will study elementary math concepts including: whole numbers, measurement units, fractions, equations and formulas, and data representation and analysis. In addition, we will cover basic two-dimensional geometry, rounding and significant figures, estimation, decimals, percentages, proportions, negative numbers, exponents and radicals. Lastly, we will study compass-and-straightedge, congruence, similarity, patterns, and slopes. I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I g [more]

With an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, I have a deep understanding in mathematics, paired with tutoring all levels of math for over a decade including people who struggle with math and some with various learning disabilities. I have a variety of techniques and games I can use to make the subject more enjoyable and approachable. I have an undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Mathematics and Statistics with a Finance Cognate. I helped run the Math tutoring lab for almost 5 years, and have been tutoring for longer than that, having worked for 3 different companies before I started my [more]

I have worked with kids that come to me discouraged in their math assignments and homework. I work with them to show them how to overcome such challenges. I find that often times students are in overcrowded classrooms and do not understand how the teacher explained math. Working with students one on one gives me opportunity to explain and then for them to practice. Summer has begun! Most of my students have taken at least some days to rest. Several have now started tutoring again for the summer break. Listen parents/guardians -- the summer provides a great opportunity to work on learning ch [more]

I tutor math to elementary school students everyday and am familiar with the Common Core curriculum. Hello! My name is Nick and I am an Emory University graduate with a degree in environmental science. Frankly, I love learning, and I spend most of my free time reading books. I believe the pursuit of knowledge to be the greatest pursuit in life and I hope to instill this mindset into each and every student that I mentor. My success is derived not only from teaching the material to students but from also sparking a genuine interest in the material. My greatest strength lies in my ability to ga.. [more]

I?ve found Elementary math students require a completely different approach than older kids; I bring games, flashcards and fun math books to our lessons in order to help them learn in fun and engaging ways. Through this, they can shed any fears of K-6th math as it becomes fun and interesting, helping them lay the solid foundation that will help them succeed now and throughout their schooling! I could help your kid with any aspects (basic arithmetic, fractions, geometry, word problems) of any math curriculum (common core, Beast Academy, homeschooling, Singapore math). [more]

Hello students! My name is Lorenzo. As someone who has gone through years of schooling I recognize and understand the challenges of learning in a classroom setting. When you're in a large group it's not always easy for a teacher to get to your specific needs and may leave you wanting more. Tutoring enables me to provide the personal attention you want so you can learn. When I teach, I do my best to make sure that you and I understand each other. No questions are off limits. If you don't under... [more]

Besides helping middle school and high students with math, I have had years of experiences helping students from 3rd to 6th graders for their math study. Each student improves their grades and doing well on the tests. I love to help students to learn math. Each student is different, so I often adjust my teaching method for each individual. I always try to stimulate my student?s interest in math learning. The interest mainly comes from having confidence in math, so my purpose is to build my students? confidence in math. I graduated from California State University with a single subject crede [more]
