Word problems can be very confusing to English-Language Learners as well as students who have Attention-Deficit or Dyslexia issues. We work together using pencil and paper since I have noticed that those using calculators within the elementary and middle schools still don't answer the questions correctly since they are not using proper logic or common sense when solving word problems. They simply put some facts listed within the word problem into their established calculator formulas, finding the incorrect answer without understanding how to check their work. Their answers, therefore, are wron [more]

Education is important in the development of a child. Mathematics especially helps the student to critically think and work out steps to solve real life word problems. I can tutor in any math subject K-12 and even in Chemistry. I have worked with home-schooled students on some of these subjects. Being a younger tutor, I can relate to the... [more]

I am a Chemistry major with a Math minor. However, Math is and has always been my first love. I have tutored all ages in Math and find that a solid Elementary Math foundation can provide a stronger base for the latter years. In fact, many students struggle in high school because they missed key fundamentals during their earlier years. Also, my current experience shows me that Math concepts are more complex now during the early years. If I can tutor a student while they are in elementary, then they will be more prepared during their high school and college years. [more]

I have tutored K-12 and sometimes Freshmen and Sophomores on mathematics for over three years. Although I do not have a degree in mathematics, my masters degrees in Business Management and Management of Information Systems required a strong grasp of mathematics. My methods are based on helping students appreciate that all of life involves some mathematics. And that in spite of the fact that its theories and applications are often abstract, they stem from real entities in the physical world around us. [more]
