As part of my Aerospace Engineering degree, I had to take a Fortran course in the beginning. I used Fortran for programs relating to the degree, given its simple organization and functionality. Often, we used Fortran for projects involving fluid flows and others applications requiring iterations, though, later, we also used MATLAB. Hello, My name is Mahen, and I am a tutor certified through the National Tutoring Association (NTA). Since 2003, I have been working with youth (ages 5-18) and adults in the capacity of tutoring, organizing sports and educational camps, teaching, and volunteerin [more]

Fortran is one of the oldest and still widely used computer programming language used in scientific computing. I learned and used FORTRAN programming language in my MSC study in Physics for numerically solving atomic and molecular calculations. I also used FORTRAN for dealing with matrices to solve for eigenvalues, to find inverse of a matrix, etc... I also use FORTRAN in my PhD study. I have about 10 years of teaching experience in vocational school and college. I graduated with MSc in Physics in May 2011 and am now enrolled for a PhD program in Computational Science program in George Mason. [more]

I have worked extensively with FORTRAN codes in my career. I have designed and coded electromagnetics applications software in FORTRAN. I have written numerous stand-alone FORTRAN utilities, and FORTRAN components of large multi-language codes. I have a PhD in particle physics from the University of Maryland at College Park and many years' experience in industry. I have taught recitation sections in physics at UMCP and college algebra at University of Maryland University College. I won an Outstanding Teaching award at UMCP. I have also provided a lot of assistance to my 13 year-old son in [more]

I have over fifty years of programming experience in Fortran, Fortran 77 and Fortran 90. I learned Fortran as an undergraduate at MIT, and have used it there, as a graduate student at Cornell University, and as a scientist and Senior Programer at MIT, at New York University, at the NASA/Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. I have over 1450 hours tutoring experience with over 90 students, including many in various levels of Fortran and in other areas of Computer Science. [more]

While in 300 level in Nigeria, I tutored 200 level students how to code in FORTRAN 77 and FORTRAN 90. With my CS background, I have experience in other non OOP programming languages. I am currently a computer science graduate student. I studied computer science also in my undergraduate and I had great concentration in calculus, algebra, differential equations and programming. Coming from a different background and having been to three different continents, I have a great understanding of people, culture, art and geography. Also, as English being my second language, I was able to prove my Engli [more]

I learned FORTRAN 64 back in 1968 using punched cards on an IBM 360 environment. During that summer, I designed a payroll processing application that did process the pay and paychecks for a company that had approx. 350 employees. I heard that the system was used until 1974 when new technology was used. I never used FORTRAN since then. It is a language that is mainly used in engineering oriented systems and in the simulation of environmental effects such as wind patterns in buildings that have unusual architectural shapes (example is the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec). I have never [more]

I have experience with Fortran, R, SPSS and Matlab data analysis and programming. I have passed 20+ college credits which needed a dependable knowledge of these data mining and statistics software. My Master's Thesis was done with Fortran (A 9000+ line code exploring the effects of electroosmotic flows). I have been accepted in the National Math Olympiad, and have passed 70+ credits of math during eight years of college both undergraduate and graduate. I have been an instructor or teaching assistant in several courses including but not limited to Algebra 1 and 2, Calculus, Differentials, Stati [more]

I have a solid 20+ years of programming experience in Fortran, Algorithms, Numerical Analysis. I am very Fluent in FORTRAN. I am an engineer by background. I hold an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University, NJ. I enjoy working with students (elementary, middle, and high school) and have helped a number of students become proficient and independent in many different subjects. The best part about tutoring for me is working with students one-on-one and knowing that I played a part in their academic success. I stress fundamentals and go the extra length to make sure that st [more]

Designed, developed and implemented information control systems using Fortran, C and Ingres (RDB) computer languages for the Reliability and Maintainability of aircraft. Coordinated and performed the conversion of programs from PDP systems to VAX systems. Performed operations activities, system installations and upgrades.? Planned and managed system monitoring, performance tuning, resource management and sizing recommendations. I have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. My tutoring skills and capabilities are excellent, clear and many times documented to s [more]

FORTRAN was one of first languages (along with GW Basis). In recent years, I had to use FORTRAN again because of the number of Scientific computing library that use. I am more comfortable with more "modern" dialects of FORTRAN (FORTRAN 77) that support variable scope and functions etc. American culture has a hang-up about math. Many believe success in mathematics centers on talent, but in fact (and there is research to show this) motivation and effort are really the keys to success. Learning math is akin to learning a language and essentially everybody learns at least one language fluently. I [more]
