I studied Fortran as part of my curriculum for a bachelors in Electrical Engineering at UC Santa Barbara in 1983. Since them I have written numerous simulations and radar data processing programs in Fortran for my consulting business. Math has always been my specialty. I completed two years of college engineering math (Calculus, differential equations and multivariable calculus) at UC Santa Barbara while I was still in high school, earning a straight A average and a place on the Dean's honors list before I was even a full time student. In 4 years I earned bachelors degrees in Electrical Eng [more]

I have extensive experience in Fortran based on my physics research years, both on mainframe and personal computers. I also have a degree in computer science. I'm enthusiastic about tutoring -- I've been teaching and tutoring, as time permitted, starting when I was a graduate student. My BA is in Maths and Computer Science, my PhD is in Physics, I did postdoctoral work in Biophysics, I was on the Physiology faculty at a university in Canada, and now I work in the Biotech field here in the Bay Area. My approach when tutoring is to find a way to bring the student to that "aha" moment when thin [more]

Worked to develop theory for physical models of various complex defense-related electromagnetic problems. Translated physics into FORTRAN code appropriate to both PC 's and mainframe parallel processors. Participated in collaborative improvement and debugging efforts as part of the code development. I am semi-retired (but good-natured!); my life experience includes travel and living abroad. I want to continue facing intellectual challenges and help students expand their horizons with clear and understandable explanations. Although my experience is mostly in the R&D industry (both practical a [more]

In 1969, when I worked as a TA in CHing-Hwa University's graduate school of Physics, I used FORTRAN to complete a lot of analysis/comparison/reports, and also converted a very large ARGO program taken from a European company to FORTRAN IV. I have MS degree in Computer Sciences from Central Michigan University, Michigan, and I have 15 years experience in all phases of MS access Application design. During my master study I was a TA for high level computer language at Michigan University. I also have experience designing complete application systems at HP, Standford University, Kaiser Permanente [more]

I have work for more than four years as a research physicist. I have a track record of publications. I built a code in FORTRAN that uses parallel tempering to solve random-exchange Ising models on the Chimera graph. I am a research physicist who has applied machine learning to study problems in physics. I taught university physics lab in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, to optics for 3 years. It is rewarding when I can help students with understanding a concept. I also have expertise in programming. So, I can also help you to learn programming and with debugging your codes. I am a [more]

I have been programming with Fortran since 2008 (six years) and I have done from simple to complex programming using Python. The expertise in Fortran allowed me to setup several programming workshop at my workplace with the 10 - 20 attendance. The outcome of these classes were very positive. I am sure it will be also a successful experience for tutoring classes. I went to UC Riverside for my PhD in mechanical engineering, my daytime job is at California Environmental Protection Agency as a research scientist and engineer. During high school I was part of International Physics Olympiad competit [more]

I used Fortran for many years in high performance computing for climate research models and non linear finite element systems. I hold a M.S. in Mathematics and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. Over time I have been working at universities in Germany and France, at research labs and a company in Germany and the US. I have been teaching math and computer science as a tutor and lecturer in multiple countries at high schools, boarding schools, and universities. I am proficient in teaching math at any high school, college, or university level.... [more]

I received a BS degree in Computer Science at San Francisco State University. All basic programming course work used Fortran as the language. Further, my first 8 years employed as a computer programmer I used Fortran as the primary programming language. The programs I wrote involved actuary science theories and pension plan maintenance. Mathematical concepts have always come easy to me. It is a talent I was born with and enjoyed every subject from arithmetic, to geometry and trig, algebra and calculus, linear algebra and real analysis. It was an easy transition to computer science. My career t [more]

I learned Fortran while I was a research intern at NASA. I wrote an original subroutine which calculates the opacity caused by gas and vapor in the protoplanetary disk, billions of years before the Earth was formed. Fortran is very intuitive. With a little help managing resources, syntax and problem solving, any student can confidently program in FORTRAN. I hope to provide that help to those interested! I am a math and science teacher and tutor. I have tutored hundreds of students in Algebra to Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra and in Statistics, Physics and As [more]

I've been a programmer in Fortran for about 10 years. I am self taught in this language. I feel having to learn it on my own gives me an excellent insight into the subject. I have tutored students privately off and on for over 20 years. I have also worked as an instructor in grad school and am very good at developing a rapport with my students. In addition, I am very patient and always ask about how they are progressing. I try to help elucidate relevance a material with concrete examples where possible.... [more]
