International experience

Teaching French as a Second Language (FLE) Certificate, (University of Caen), France. I started teaching English as a substitute in high school during my last year of University in France and enjoyed it. I later used my knowledge of French when I move to the United States, teaching French in San Francisco for the Alliance Fran?aise. I then taught French in high school in Utah. When I moved back to California I got the TESOL certification from UCSB, which allowed me to teach English in Italy, Mongolia, and Chile. Now back in California I would be delighted to share my experienc... [more]

Learn French!

Salut tout le monde! I am 100% French, born and raised in the lovely city of Paris. I attend UC Santa Barbara and plan on majoring in biology. I am fluent in French (it is my first language) and I have a little bit of experience in tutoring French, especially little kids at the elementary level but would love to help fellow freshmen, college students or adults in need. Being away from my home country is sometimes painful, and I believe that helping you progress in French will help me feel a l... [more]

Student at UC Santa Barbara

I am a student at UC Santa Barbara majoring in biological sciences. I have some tutoring experience and experience working with kids. For two summers, I was an assistant teacher at a summer school. At the summer school, I was with 5-13-year-olds and I would prepare snacks for them, organize games for them, read them stories, play outside with them, and help them with arts and crafts. I was also a counselor at a one-week sleepaway camp for the past three summers. I had 9-11-year-old girls and... [more]

Native speaker of French, patient and passionate

I only tutor in French. I think it's important to put the language in its context, and not just teach a string of words or rules of grammar. I use visuals and interactive techniques to teach the language. The goal of most people who want to learn a language is to learn to communicate on basic things, not to have a lengthy conversation with the locals. I take this into account. I also have experience teaching French to younger kids at the elementary and middle school level (I taught my own ... [more]

Native French Tutor

I am born in France where I lived for a long period before I moved to Germany. I am married to a German who got a job in USA so we moved to this free and beautiful country. I think I was lucky to have the opportunity to live in all three countries and learned to be more tolerant and see the world in different ways. Respect and honesty are important. I have two children one girl and one boy and I will note I have two smart grand kids who are bilingual in German and French. I teach them Englis... [more]

UC Santa Barbara grad student tutoring in English, French, and writing

As a Literature student at UC Santa Cruz, I took the whole series of French language courses (1-6), and received A's in each course. I then aced a French Literature course before studying abroad for five months in Bordeaux, France, where I also received straight A's. I gained fluency in France, and am now a prospective graduate student in Comparative Literature, with French as one of my principal literatures. I am currently teaching French at UC Santa Barbara as an MA/PhD student in Comparative Literature (with an emphasis in French). My education has furnished me with a great background in th [more]
