ESL tutoring

I have a bachelor's degree in Music History and Theory and taught music (private lessons in violin) for 16 years. I've studied violin, piano and voice. Kodaly training. Classical music is the area I'm most experienced and knowledgeable about. I have 18 years of experience teaching young people and adults, and have a passion for motivating and engaging youth and adults one-in-one in inspiring learning experiences. Few things are as meaningful and energizing to me as encouraging students to have faith in themselves, persevere and improve their skills. I have two years experience teaching Englis [more]

The Best Education Possible

I studied music in college at The University of Texas Butler School of Music in addition to being a professional musician with 20 years of experience playing violin. From a young age I have been an avid reader and A+ student. I feel that this attitude of doing the absolute best as well as completely understanding subject material flows well into my tutoring capabilities. I have experience teaching all ages ranging from 4 to 70+ years. I am a certified teacher in addition to having 5 years of experience teaching and tutoring. I purposefully chose more difficult courses in college to stretch [more]

Creative, Hard Working, Willing and Able to go the Extra Mile!

I minored in Music for my degree and have sung in many choirs. I love to help others acquire a love for the fineries found in the wonderful world of music. I am a recent college graduate from Brigham Young University, Idaho. I have always been the one to help other students understand when they are not able by using different words and descriptions to teach subject matter. I believe in guiding the student to the answer and not just giving it to them, so that they have the opportunity to learn and find confidence that they can figure out the answer on their own. I have always been able to encou [more]

Researcher/Musician/Social Media/Overall Well Educated

After playing music for 12 years I have learned all of the Basic Major and Minor chords A-G. With this knowledge I synchornize by ear the chords and notes to higher Octaves to play the same chord in a higher pitch. I would need to look into my augmented and 7th chords but after less than a day I would be able to instantly tutor a student. In fact I could even look it up in less than 6 seconds using the technology at hand. I believe cover songs are the best way to learn how to play instruments even if the song may be difficult. If the individual is not having fun/entertained then it is more dif [more]

Classical Music Everything

I have taught subjects in a wide variety of subjects in music history, ranging from medieval and renaissance forms to 20th Century innovations and electronic music. I have a special interest in the concert song literature. I place some emphasis on providing insights into the design of music, beyond the usual names and dates and general overview of styles. Tell me where you need to do some work, and we'll work together on it. If you need help with music --- let's go! I have been a professional composer and teacher of music for several decades now. I attended Yale University (B.A.), then the Uni [more]

Piano, composition, theory/aural skills, chamber music, music history

Since I have taught beginning piano for over 25 years, I have also taught general music subjects. With piano students, I use Faber and Faber Piano Adventures, Edna Mae Burnam's Step by Step, Noona's Scriva theory series, and Sandy Feldstein's Practical Theory, all levels. I have prepared students for the ABRSM theory exams. I write out additional interval and rhythm exercises for students as they need. I use Youtube to encourage students to listen to music by a variety of composers and performed by numerous pianists. I share knowledge of composers, western music history trends. My Bache [more]
