In elementary math fundamentals we cover patterns and algorithms alongside fundamental studies. In algebra we use video games to build understanding and practical work to build confidence in the basics of abstract math. Geometry is used to understand proof work and to gain a better understanding of algebra skills through real world examples. Depending ... [more]

I have taught an Algebra 2/Geometry class previously. As such, I am very comfortable with the material. I aim to help students break down problems into manageable steps so that they can approach the solution with confidence. I also help students to see how the subject connects to their previous math classes so that they can see the continuity and draw on their prior knowledge. I have over ten years of experience tutoring various subjects from writing and elementary math to college level statistics. I started tutoring as a way to assist my friends and family members who were in need of help, an [more]

I am very successful explaining mathematics to all levels of student, including Geometry. Tutoring is my full time job. With well over 20 years of teaching/tutoring experience, I doubt there are many tutors as patient, talented or effective as I am. I bring a lot more to the table than what you see "on paper" and am constantly told by my students how well I explain things. Though other tutors may be cheaper, I am more efficient due to my experience and explanations. After 5 lessons, one of my SAT Math students improved her Math test score by 140 points last year! Another went... [more]

As a child growing up in Brazil, Graciele witnessed how her mother, a biology teacher, successfully helped many students. This inspired Graciele to live by her example from an early age. During college, she was selected to tutor her classmates in Calculus 1-3, Thermodynamics, and Analytical Chemistry. In 2007, she became a teacher at a renowned institute teaching math to classes as large as 120 students. She received her Bachelor of Engineering in 2011 and has since been working in the U.S. a... The key to a successful tutoring - when it comes to Geometry - is making sure the student visualizes what is being communicated - in three dimension. I do it by finding ways to relate what is being discussed to a real life example. Once a student understands that Geometry really is about objects you can touch, measure and alter, a sense of familiarity sets in and understanding becomes easier. I do this with every student and they have all improved significantly. I have always liked explaining, and I found out that I am good at it when I got to college, where we were encouraged to help one anot [more]
