Geometry is perhaps the key subject to truly understanding (and not simply route learning) mathematics that opens the door to algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and beyond. I have taught high school and college students in geometry, algebra I, and algebra II with this approach in mind and have helped them improve their class scores (some by as many as 20 points in a short couple of months!) and methods for test preparation (such as for the End of Course test). My passion for mathematics and abstract critical thinking, I believe, make my instruction as practical and even enjoyable for students as [more]

Hello! My name is Christine, and I have been teaching since 2004. I have a B.S. in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley and a M.S. in mathematics from California State University. I currently teach at the University level and have taught everything from basic math and algebra all the way up to calculus. I started my college career at a community college. The first class I ever taught was Intro to Statistics and it is the class I have taught more than any other course. I have also taught... [more]

I can understand why a lot of students these days fall behind or lose interest in math. Subjects like Algebra and Trigonometry are taught in such a way that if you fall behind just a little bit, it can seem almost impossible to catch up. And once that happens, a student?s enthusiasm and self confidence can go downhill fast. Today?s math teachers are under a lot of pressure to keep their classes moving forward as a group, and so there?s not much help for any individual student who starts to f... [more]

I have over ten years experience teaching and tutoring. I taught algebra and geometry at a Denver Public School and developed a competency-based model of instruction. In addition to private tutoring, I currently tutor at Red Rocks Community College. I have been teaching and tutoring for over ten years. I taught both high school math (algebra and geometry) and elementary for six years in Denver Public Schools. Prior to this, I tutored at both Red Rocks Community College and the University of Colorado at Boulder while completing my undergraduate in engineering at the University of Colorado. In [more]

Geometry begins in Kindergarten, but it gets difficult for some students during the middle school years. I enjoy teaching and doing all types of math...especially with visuals and concrete formulas that are part of Geometry. If your child needs help finding the perimeter, area, or volume of a polygon, or is struggling to find congruent angles and write proofs, I can provide the support he or she needs. I have 20+ years of experience working one on one with K-12 students and adults. Many have had special needs (LD, EBD, ADHD, ASD & DD). I use methods that make boring or frustrating subjects [more]

I have extensive practical experience with using math and science for software applications. I have run a software consulting business for over 15 years. I have taught computer science courses for CU/Boulder and Red Rocks Community College. I have B.S. degrees in computer science and physics from Colorado State University. So...why be a tutor? I... I took many higher level math course in college, including geometry. I have taught 4 grade geometry for years, and remember pretty much all of it. I can't wait to work with your students! Don't hesitate to reach out to me for questions or scheduling information. I know i might cost a little more than some of the high school and college tutors here, but I'n very good at what I do-- I'm worth it. I believe that if you use a student's interests to connect with the lesson, they can learn to love learning. I am very good at establishing relationships with young learners. I believe with those [more]

My name is Ariel H., and I am a math major at the University of Denver. I tutor students with recognized learning challenges, as well as outside students in the Denver area. I tutored math 030 - 099 (entry level maths) at Arapahoe Community College for 2 semesters and now I tutor students with learning challenges at DU. I tend to approach math with a real - world perspective, interpreting problems and equations in terms of how they communicate an observable principle. I'm 19 years old, and ha... [more]

I am a certified mathematics teacher in both Colorado and NJ with several years of classroom and tutoring experience. After graduating from Gonzaga University with President's List honors in Mechanical Engineering, I moved back to Colorado and started my engineering career! At school I was a TA for Materials Science and Computer Methods Lab where I would work with students directly in weekly tutoring sessions and help them with their lab reports during lab sessions. After school I worked for an aerial surveying company for 2 years where I specialized in integrating new camera systems into the drones and mana... [more]
