For 4 years (2011-2014, 2016-2017), I taught English to college freshmen as well as tutored college students in English. I continue tutoring individuals of various ages today. While my undergraduate and graduate education focused on English, I also have a great love for basic math and algebra. Also, I have familiarity with the ACT and an ever-increasing familiarity with the Revised GRE, the latter being an exam that I last took in August 2016 and on which I received an acceptable score. While... [more]

I took Geometry my freshman year in high school. I just find it very interesting to learn about the various ways we can look at geometrical objects, and how we can solve for angles, sides, areas, perimeters, volumes, arc lengths, and more. I tutor by demonstrating the various ways in solving for a quantity, and explaining which one is the most efficient. This subject has to be taught with graphs and drawings. I graduated with a BA in Chemistry (ACS Biochemistry option) from Western Connecticut State University. I worked as an Organic Synthesis Research Assistant for the Whitesides Research Gro [more]

In high school, I placed first in a number of Math Team competitions and completed Calculus III, Statistics, and Differential Equations; I then expanded upon my mathematical knowledge at Georgia Tech with myriad math-based engineering courses, Linear Algebra, and Random Signals. I practiced professionally as an electrical engineer prior to medical school, and currently teach math ranging from Elementary Math through Differential Equations and Discrete Math. I work to formulate an engaging lesson plan for any learning style, and endeavor to make a frequently under-appreciated subject accessibl [more]

I have tutored dozens of middle school and high school students in geometry. I am an expert with the material. I know exactly how to clearly explain each topic and work through problems so that the student truly understands the material and feels confident in his or her abilities. Let's learn math, any math! I was a math teacher for three years and I have been a math tutor for over five years to a wide range of students and subject areas. I am an expert at tutoring college calculus and algebra, high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, SAT and ACT math, and elementary and middl [more]

Hello, I currently work as an engineer. If I wasn't a full time engineer, I would love to be teaching. I have tutored in the past. I feel most comfortable teaching math, chemistry, and physics. I can also teach engineering and English. I look forward to working with you. I have a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama and a MS Health Informatics from the University of Alabama Birmingham. I took the following in college and have tutored in most, if not all of these... [more]

I currently work full-time tutoring women who are working to obtain their GEDs. My primary focus is on pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. It is always a huge blessing when I am able to see my students understand something that was once so frustrating and/or intimidating for them. While I am grateful that they are able to learn the math, the greatest reward is watching their confidence build in themselves and their capabilities. I have been tutoring for a year and a half full-time. I hav... [more]

I taught Geometry for five years. I first started tutoring as a peer helper in high school. I had been told by many of my classmates that I had a gift for tutoring. Many of my classmates said that I made the lessons simpler and easier to understand. I continued tutoring through undergraduate school, and I began tutoring professionally immediately after graduation. As a teacher, I would often tutor other students who were not enrolled in my classes. I would do this for free, as my primary objective was helping the students rea... [more]

My name is Michelle, but you can call me "Mari"! In May of 2017, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory University with a BS in Anthropology & Human Biology and a minor Global Health. I am currently taking a gap year before beginning medical school at Tulane University. Currently, I work full-time as an AmeriCorps member at Impact Alabama, a non-profit based in Birmingham. I have always loved the process of learning and want to become engaged in other people's learning experiences. As a s... [more]

I am a former math teacher and I have taught all math subjects through Calculus 1. I have been tutoring for over 20 years with consistent results! I pride myself on keeping up with the latest methods to make math easy. My approach to tutoring is founded on one simple concept - UNDERSTANDING! Showing a student how to work a specific problem is not the answer to mastering the material. I teach the how's and why's of the problem, so they will be able to solve it themselves, and transfer that kn... [more]
