I am recently retired from the Broward County School System. I have a Florida teaching certificate valid through June 2020. I am certified in math 6-12, ESOL and Psychology. I have 39 years of experience mostly at the high school and college level. My areas of expertise are in Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, College Readiness and Trigonometry at the high school level. At the college level I am qualified to tutor developmental algebra, intermediate and college algebra. For the past 20 years I... [more]

Geometry is often misunderstood by students because of the concepts that are being taught, that differ from algebra. With some help, I have seen many start to enjoy geometry and see the importance of doing well in this important subject. The school year is beginning. Rather than wait and get into difficulty with a subject, why not consider a tutor to help smooth out the anxious moments. It is preferable to deal with these issues before the grades reflect problems. Or if you are studying for the SAT or ACT or PERT , I have had great success with helping students marvelously improve their [more]

Hi, my name is Stephen F. I am a teacher at Hillsborough County. I am currently certified to teach 6-12 Math. I have background knowledge on all things algebra, fractions, graphing, and some springboard knowledge. I'm a volunteer for the Big Brother, Big Sister program for the past three years. On my downtime I like being out on and in the water - kayaking, paddle boarding or just being on the beach. I've taught students who struggled in Algebra. It's really not that difficult, it may be c... [more]

While working for The Tutoring Club of Hilliard, I tutored fourteen students in geometry. In high school, I was a peer tutor for three geometry students. The vast majority of my geometry students have been 15 years old. Since moving down to Florida, I've added another three geometry students to my list. Although I've tutored more students in algebra than geometry, I like tutoring students in geometry much more than in algebra one or two. I don't get to tutor geometry as often as algebra, and I truly enjoy tutoring for this subject. Geometry has more real world applications than any other sec [more]

I have tutored students in Geometry since 2005, while I was still attending High School and have continued private tutoring since. I also tutored professionally at HCC Brandon Campus' Academic Success Center. I worked there while completing my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the USF from January 2010 to July 2013. Hi my name is Howard and I love helping others succeed in their math classes. I started professionally tutoring students in 2010 at Hillsborough Community College Brandon Campus' Academics Success Center while completing my Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering at [more]

In addition to doing well in this subject in school myself, I also co-taught Geometry at the High School level. I have great resources and visual aides to help clarify this often difficult subject and approach it from all angles! ;-) Please let me assist you. I love learning and I enjoy working with individual students to help them build skills to be successful. Over 20 years of experience teaching Special Education at various grade levels, taught me helpful techniques to engage students in their own learning process and overcome difficulties. In addition to my degrees in education and tea [more]

I began college as a tuba/jazz performance major and at some point realized that music was not the path for me. While taking my general education requirements, I came to find that I enjoy the thrill of math and science. I still work as a musician but appreciate music more because of my math skills. I am currently an undergraduate at the University of South Florida studying physics and mathematics. I am also employed by a college as a math and science tutor. Before I was hired as a coll... I recently relocated from the northeast to Wesley Chapel, FL in order to be closer to family and be as far away from those cold snowy winters as possible. For the better part of 10 years I played professional poker, which requires a high level of intelligence, keen observation and adaptability, and a strong foundation in mathematics. On top of that, I started a private SAT prep business with a former English Professor in Philadelphia in 2004. He took care of the English, I took care of t... [more]

Geometry introduces geometric reasoning (the study of shapes) as a method for problem solving. If the student wants to cover specific subjects, I will work on those subjects. I always go through algebra basics in a short review because these basics are still used in geometry. If the student is "home schooled", I teach geometry in 10 two hour lessons. I physically (through pen and paper, as well as online) show the properties of geometric figures such as triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons. I show and help the student practice using mathematical language to express important g [more]
