I am a college mathematics professor with over twenty years' experience in healthcare consulting. I have tutored students from 5th grade math to college level courses. In addition to teaching college-level mathematics, I have developed curriculums for several courses including on-line courses with a Texas-based university. I have also written a mathematics textbook that is used by a Dallas-based college for fundamentals of mathematics. I believe that math can be fun and understandable as well... [more]

Geometry was one of my favorite subjects in Junior High School. I had an awesome teacher who recognized my abilities and encouraged my explorations into the subject matter. I am certified in Secondary Math in the State of Texas and have taught Geometry in the Irving ISD. Topics usually covered in Geometry include points, lines, angles, properties of angle formed by parallel lines with intersecting lines, triangles, the Pythagorean theorem, quadrilaterals, polygons, solving equations and inequalities involving geometric figures, properties of irrational numbers. Geometry has long been a strong subject for me. From elementary through high school, I won several math competitions in geometry. In teaching geometry, I approach the subject from multiple perspectives, to see which one helps the student understand the material the best. Some students really respond to visual representations of the material, while others have an easier time with formulas and algebraic expressions. I am comfortable presenting the material either way, according to what works best for the student. [more]

With over 40 years in the classroom, I have worked with students at many levels. I still attend professional meetings to make sure that I have sharp skills to handle today's curriculum demands. While the state of Texas demands that all students study physics, the decision makers have not provided a path for the teachers to understand the issues and struggles that some students face in their study of physics. I have continually attended workshops and instructional programs to make me better at... [more]

I have my degree in mathematics, but I think out of all the classes I've taught, Geometry was my favorite. It's easy to use hands on techniques when learning geometry. I like to start by having the student explain the topic/concept in their own words so that I can assess what they know, their misconceptions, and where we need to go to master the concept. Hi, I'm a former math teacher pursuing a new dream of becoming a fire fighter, but I still love math. I want to help others become better acquainted with the magic it can hold or to just learn it better. I have taught algebra and geometry at a [more]

Many students, even those who have previously performed well in math, struggle when it comes to geometry. I use a myriad of techniques to reach each student; so, he/she truly understands the concepts and not just performs well on the test. My lessons are tailored to each student's learning style, and I have helped students successfully maintain As in math. ***NOW ENROLLING FOR FALL 2018!!!*** (Only two twice-a-week time slots left!!! I love learning - and firmly believe that while few things are more frustrating than failing to "get it", the fastest way to gain knowledge and understanding of a concept is to talk to a person who knows what you want to know and understands what you want to understand - and then apply that knowledge and understanding by doing something with it. I love helping people "get it"! I have tutored students from many grade levels - from grade school students with basic math to college students with ... [more]

Tutoring students is my full-time career and my most passionate endeavor. Since 1995, I have helped countless students realize their academic potential by providing meaningful and relevant support. Through one-on-one tutoring sessions, my students experience a high level of success and an increase in academic confidence?a confidence that often permeates other areas of their lives. All tutoring is tailored to the individual with great emphasis placed on the student?s long and short-te... [more]

I have taught geometry topics at the high school level for the past 3 years. I took classes in Euclidean geometry in college. I can relate geometry back to algebra topics. I am a former high school math teacher that relocated to the Dallas area for a Ph.D. program in education research. I am also attending school for my masters in statistics. Tutoring is fun because it allows me to obtain an individual understanding of how students learn. I like to make math relevant but also make connections between non-mathematical content. What can you expect: Friendly and knowledgeable help regardin [more]

I have over 30 hours in college mathematics courses and several years of experience both teaching and tutoring math subjects including geometry and algebra 1. Through my efforts, I have helped many students improve their test scores and overall averages in their math courses. I work to help them understand the basics and gain confidence in their problem-solving skills. I hold a BS in Chemistry/Biology, and a MS degree in both Chemistry and Biology. These subjects require application of my math skills, so I use math in my work each and every day. [more]
