I graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2010 and had majored in Chemistry. I had also taken handful of higher level math classes. I am working on my master's degree right now. I love teaching and interacting with students. I have been a teaching assistant for general chemistry and college physics courses for almost two years. In addition, I have been a course assistant for chemistry and physics courses and also have been tutoring math classes. The most rewarding part of my career as... [more]

Geometry has long been a strong subject for me. From elementary through high school, I won several math competitions in geometry. In teaching geometry, I approach the subject from multiple perspectives, to see which one helps the student understand the material the best. Some students really respond to visual representations of the material, while others have an easier time with formulas and algebraic expressions. I am comfortable presenting the material either way, according to what works best for the student. [more]

Dear prospective student, Solving the problems is just half of the objective of a tutoring session. The most important thing is learning how to come from the basic principles (from lectures and notes) to the solution of each problem. With the ability to do that, you can solve similar problems on your quizzes, lab reports, tests, exams (SAT, SAT 2). If you have problems in Biology, General Chemistry, General Physics, Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I and II, I could be a resource for you. G... [more]

Geometry was one of my favorite subjects in Junior High School. I had an awesome teacher who recognized my abilities and encouraged my explorations into the subject matter. I am certified in Secondary Math in the State of Texas and have taught Geometry in the Irving ISD. Topics usually covered in Geometry include points, lines, angles, properties of angle formed by parallel lines with intersecting lines, triangles, the Pythagorean theorem, quadrilaterals, polygons, solving equations and inequalities involving geometric figures, properties of irrational numbers. Geometry is a great subject! It can be difficult for students to get used to connecting abstract information on a page to two or three dimensional shapes, and to use math to connect the two. But it's such a valuable skill to develop! Being able to think mathmatically and precisely about shapes will be a valuable tool for all future math endeavors! Geometry is a big jump for many students, and a new way of thinking. I know I can help you reach a solid understanding of the concepts and methods involved! With practice and step by step discussions, you can lay a foundation that will help you [more]

Greetings! My name is Cornell. I am a Dallas native, graduate of Southern Methodist University, and Mathematics Department Chair / Instructor in the Dallas Independent School District. My approach to coaching Mathematics is predicated on the belief that there is no such thing as a ?math person.? Just because you may have historically struggled with Mathematics or you are related to others who feel that they aren?t ?good in math? does not mean that you can?t rise to the challenge and achieve h... Preface: The majority of my tutoring experience has been focused on math, which explains my current free response talking mostly about math. However, I am reviewing previous coursework in physics and chemistry and am available to tutor those subjects at the high school and college levels. I have loved math since I was a child. I aced my math courses throughout school and was eventually selected to attend the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, a two-year residential program for gifte... [more]

I have taught geometry topics at the high school level for the past 3 years. I took classes in Euclidean geometry in college. I can relate geometry back to algebra topics. I am a former NC teacher that relocated to the Dallas area for a PhD program in Education at a local university. I have previously taught high school math and math to ESOL students. Tutoring is fun because it allows teachers to actually obtain an individual understanding of how students learn. I like to make math relevant but also make connections between other mathematical content. I have a master's in education, whi [more]
