I have always had a strong passion for math and music and I love to share that passion with other students. One of my goals as a tutor is to help each student acquire a stronger grasp on the concepts associated with each subject so that he or she can use those building blocks to understand higher level concepts in the future. I also try to develop a relationship with each student so that we can work as a team to find the best method of teaching for him or her. In the 2015-16 school year, I ... [more]

I have a masters in math from 1975. During my 10 years of tutoring, I have tutored middle school and high school geometry several times. I tutored one student during his entire year taking geometry. I have a formula sheet from his business calculus book that has area and volume formulae. While teaching middle school math in Illinois, I taught transformational geometry to 7th grade students. My greatest reward is to see the "light bulb," the "now I understand," look. During my years as a student, at all levels, I helped my fellow students. Some told me that I could explain better than the [more]

I can help any student that wishes to improve their performance in Geometry. I know the common pitfalls to avoid as well as the "trick" questions teachers will include on quizzes and tests! Although retired from teaching, I still enjoy working one on one with students and helping them get the best grades possible!... [more]

I started tutoring two years ago, and I have loved being able to help my students succeed and working with them towards their academic goals! Although every student learns in a slightly different way, I approach tutoring with a three-step process: briefly overviewing the things the student will learn, demonstrating the process while explaining it, and guiding the student as they practice the process themselves. The most satisfying aspect of tutoring is seeing someone finally understand a conc... [more]
