One of the things I love most in life is helping others to succeed. I have educated, tutored and taught many people from diverse backgrounds, from all ages for the past 30 years on a voluntary basis in numerous subjects and areas including English as a second language, math, science, reading and writing. A life and career transition has brought me to Wyzant. My primary focus when tutoring is a client's individual needs and challenges. I have tutored and taught all ages from children as youn... Hello, I am interested in opportunities to provide tutoring services to high school students, with a focus on Calculus, Algebra, and Geometry. I am also available to tutor science classes: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students taking my lessons will learn the material for their course and study strategies that will help them in future classes. My approach is to teach the student how to identify the nature of the problem and to recognize the appropriate way to solve it. We work through t... [more]

I graduated from UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering with high honors (top 10% of all graduating engineering students), and a minor in Mathematics. I also have a Masters degree from Stanford University. I've always been an excellent student; I was always able to understand very difficult math, science, and engineering concepts. I volunteered as a tutor at Berkeley and I have been a volunteer tutor for several years. I've been professionally tutoring for over 1 year with over 400 hours of tu... [more]

I took Geometry my freshman year of high school and was placed among the most advanced students in the class and given extra, more difficult problems on both homework assignments and tests as well as the freedom to mostly teach myself the subject. I received an A in that class as well as the math classes I took the two following years. My memory and natural skill with math is what allows me to have the necessary expertise to teach it. Also adding to my ability to teach is the fact that I essentially taught myself math all the way from late elementary school through 9th grade. [more]

My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. I excel in math because I love math and have a systematic approach to study math. I have a BA in Finance from University of Washington. In college, when I tutored math and accounting to my fellow students, I always had a good feeling of being helpful. My approach to tutoring is tailored to each individual student. I will assess to see each student's level of knowledge and find out about his/her style of learning. Combining a stude... [more]

I have successfully tutored students in grades 2 through college for 10 years. I am new to the area, however at my previous home I was tutoring approximately 20 hours per week and was in high demand. My students come for tutoring, gain confidence in their abilities, and gradually reduce tutoring hours. Those students may occasionally come in for a session right before a test. I have been certified to teach mathematics (grades 6-12) in New Jersey, Georgia, and New Mexico. I am also ce... [more]

Tian obtained his Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics in August 2018 from University of California, Davis. Tian participated in the SUMmER program on the topic of knot theory at Seattle University in 2016. His team extended the Link Smoothing Game introdu... [more]

I'm Ryan, a Software Engineer whose worked at a couple of well known companies like Microsoft. My educational background is a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Systems with a Minor in Math from the University of Washington. The University of Washington is where I got my start tutoring, while there I worked with dozens of students to help them with math. I tutored many people who really struggled with math. From them I learned that often it wasn't their aptitude for math that was... [more]

I am a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida with a B.S in Industrial Engineering. I graduated with a 3.5 college GPA. My favorite subject has always been math. I have tutored geometry honors and regents level for 5 years. I'm familiar with the NYS geometry regents exams and have recently tutored a couple of students who took the geometry regents. I worked during the summer with a couple of students from Horace Mann in the Bronx, and both students maintained an A in the class. My tutoring method is always student centered and I try to give the student the freedom to explore the concept and work out problems by themselves while I try to guide the student. Geometry is my favorite subject in math and I love teaching it to students. [more]
