Geometry is one of my favorite subjects. I teach my students where formulas come from instead of just drilling them in memorization. Application of Algebra concepts to solve Geometry problems are reviewed. I have more than 15 years of experience in tutoring students of all ages and levels of education from elementary to graduate school. I am most interested in changing the way my students perceive themselves when approaching math. Throughout the years, I have had the most rewarding experience when my students, besides turning their grades around, feel empowered to the point they become a math [more]

I first had geometry in high school and enjoyed learning how to prove theorems. I also had an upper division geometry class in college and I am currently taking a Historical Math class which is focusing on geometry at the moment. Whether your student needs help with the basics of geometry, proving theorems, or other challenging concepts, I am happy to help. My passion for mathematics began when I was in 11th grade. As a homeschooled student, I had a flexible schedule which allowed me to take Algebra II at Norco College. I had an amazing professor who made me realize how fun math is. After th [more]

I can help organize the information, guide students through numerous examples and suggest extra exercises. I've helped students succeed through accelerated summer programs with these methods. I also highlight topics particularly important to the SAT math section. I have been around instructors for my entire life. My mother was a general tutor for the neighborhood and I helped her when our small apartment was stuffed with children and textbooks, writing, reading and aiding them with math after my own homework was done. Much later, I found a paying job at a small tutoring center. There, I mainly [more]

I am a UCI honors graduate in mathematics with a minor in computer science. I started tutoring as a favor for a friend and have found that tutoring is one of the most rewarding experiences I can have. Many of my students have gone from D's with no understanding to A's with the ability to peer tutor their classmates. It is always wonderful to enter a student's home and hear "I got an A on the test!" or "the teacher says I am her most improved student." I look for the concepts that students... [more]

Geometry can be tough. Indeed, learning how to deal with the mental knots frustration we tie ourselves in is just as important as knowing how to find the area of a hexagon. With my holistic approach, I help my students with the geometry, yes, but I help them even more to learn how to teach themselves. This is my gift. Kathryn is a professional private tutor who spends her life helping students understand tough concepts in math and science. She is an aficionado of these subjects herself, having spent a rigorous four years at Harvey Mudd College, where she received her BS in Molecular Biology in [more]
