I have tutored students in geometry since 2006. I have helped students at school through our school tutoring programs as well as many private clients. I am a high school chemistry and French teacher with twelve years experience (all levels of first year chemistry and AP Chemistry and French I and II). My AP students have a 91% pass rate (national average is around 52%) and an average score of 4.2. In the past I have also taught anatomy & physiology and biology and before that I worked in the printing industry and as a lab technician. I have two bachelor's degrees in French and history and two [more]

Some students find geometry makes perfect sense--you can just look at it. For others, it seems totally arbitrary. For the latter, I try to show them why it is that things are as they are. Once these start to add together to make sense, they build on each other. I work very little on proving theorems, focusing much more on helping students recognize patterns and why they make sense. Generally this pattern-based logic will help the students who aren't visually oriented, which is the majority of those who don't do well in geometry. [more]

I am certified in High School and Middle School math, and have over 12 years of experience in the classroom. My greatest satisfaction comes from helping an individual gain an understanding of math concepts. I prefer to think of myself as someone who teaches people about math rather than as a math teacher. I love helping people learn. I am certified in Kentucky to teach any elementary subject area as well as middle school and high school mathematics. My experience includes 8+ years in private schools and 4+ years in public schools. I have taught English and spelling, as well as other esse [more]

I have taught Honors and Advanced Program Geometry courses for several years. In addition to the traditional approach to Geometry, I am also experienced with a variety of techniques to teach Geometry content such as using manipulatives and technology such as Geometer's Sketch Pad. In addition to mastery of the specific Geometry content, I have expert knowledge of the vertical alignment structure of secondary mathematics. I know exactly where the content learned in Geometry becomes important in later subjects such as Calculus and Precalculus. [more]

I have been tutoring geometry students for 12 years. I am an engineer with a Lean Sigma Master Black Belt certification, who has been tutoring elementary, middle, high school and college students for the past 10 years. In addition, I have been teaching physics and math at IUS and Ivy Tech for the past 8 years, and teaching leadership skills in the business world for the past 10 years. I see myself not only as a tutor, but as a role model and mentor for all of my students. This year, two of my students graduated from high school, and I starte... [more]

I was a classroom teacher for over 30 years and I taught Pre-algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and General Math. I hold Bachelors and Masters degrees from Spalding University. I love when students finally understand what was puzzling them before. I preferred working one-on-one and have tutored in the past. I am very good at breaking down concepts to little steps - I have a blind brother, so I had to learn how to take tasks apart for him to understand. I am told that I am a good listener and have... I have an excellent understanding of mathematics and have taken honors courses in it since elementary school. I greatly enjoy the subject and I expressed that competitively in my high school's math and academic teams. I believe it is important for the student to understand mathematics, not just to memorize functions and figures; I would bring this attitude to the table, helping the student to understand how and why they are doing math in a certain way. In the case of geometry I would help the student understand how to take shapes and apply their properties to all sorts of problems in order to [more]

I have taught electrical/ electronic engineering courses on a college level. A lot of algebra 2 is used to solve engineering problems. I also have a love for solving math equations in a simple but effective learning style. My name is John. My degree is in Electrical Engineering. I have worked in manufacturing as lead electrical engineer dealing with automation controls and capital million dollar projects. I have also held roles as quality manager and my current role as Supplier Quality Management. I spent 2.5 years also working as a adjunct instructor teaching, tutoring and mentoring students [more]

Hey there! I'm Evan and I can't wait to start working with you! I have been tutoring in Algebra and Geometry off and on since 2007, initially for friends and family who needed help and eventually progressing to paid tutoring after I started college. I'm a graduate of the University of Louisville's Speed School of Engineering, where I took a wide range of mathematics courses, and am currently finishing my Master's of Engineering degree there. I've always had a knack for mathematics, exce... [more]

I taught math in JCPS (duPont Manual HS, Fern Creek HS, Valley HS) for four years and have taught full-time at Sullivan College of Technology and Design for the past two years. I have found patience and breaking concepts into small step-by-step pieces as the keys to my success. From basic algebra through differential calculus, I find my passion for math rooted in the real-world applications it defines. I have tutored privately for the last six years and really enjoy the student-driven pa... [more]
