Geometry is a combination of a math class and a logic class. Geometry uses all of your pre-algebra and algebra skills, and adds new facts about lines, angles, and regular shapes in both two and three dimensions. It also includes knowing and applying trigonometric relationships and the Pythagorean Theorum. That's the math part. In addition, there are the proofs. This is the logic part. Students either love or hate proofs; usually there's no middle ground! Proofs require that you be a math lawyer, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the statement made at the start is guilty of being true [more]

I've studied advanced geometry at the collegiate level, as well as supporting mathematics, including abstract algebra, and calculus 1, 2, 3, and 4. I've been teaching/tutoring in Geometry for about a year now! My passion for teaching centers around three main practices: I want students to learn, I want students to gain the study skills and learning strategies necessary to succeed in the future, and I want them to enjoy learning as much as possible! I have a strong love for learning, gaining new experiences, and helping others. As a current student studying both Math Education and English La [more]

I have successfully taken the Praxis I and Praxis II exams in math which involved questions in Geometry. In addition, I successfully completely two graduate level courses in Geometry and Geometric Proofs. I also taught Geometry for several years using a constructivist approach where the students created their own understanding of theorems through hands-on activities using protractors and compasses. I have tutored students in Geometry for several years in the past and continue to do so currently with several clients. [more]
