I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Swarthmore College (top liberal arts college near Philadelphia, PA) with double major in Mathematics (with an emphasis on Statistics) and Economics. I earned a 3.99 GPA and received academic scholarship for being an outstanding student every year. I also had a year-long research experience in Statistics and am a published author. In terms of standardized tests, I scored an 800 on the SAT Math, Physics, and Chemistry subject tests, as well as an 800 and 750 on t... [more]

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I am a math/reading/writing and organizational skills tutor for students from kindergarten to college. A little bit about me: In May 2015, I graduated summa cum laude from the Dominican University of California, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies/Teacher Education, a minor in mathematics and Honors. While at Dominican, I had ample classroom and one-on-one experience with students. I worked as an assistant teacher in six different elementary... [more]

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2016 with a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. I've always been interested in teaching, but decided to focus more on getting technical degrees while in college. In my experience, math can be a lot more fun when you work through problems together with other people. It becomes more problem solving rather than just plain old math. During my undergrad, I took an education course where we focused on developing lesson plans for teaching a middle sch... [more]

When I began tutoring a few years ago, I firmly believed that anyone could do well in mathematics, all the way through Calculus, provided you are relatively fluent in a few formulas and make time for regular problem sets. My experience over that time has only confirmed my suspicions, and its has been a great pleasure to work with many of my students. I have always found joy in getting to the point of a big concept and keeping the focus on the purposeful real-world applications that many of ... [more]

Tutoring is an act of observation. It succeeds where normal instruction fails because it is geared toward a student's particular strengths. My best experiences as a tutor have been with the students who needed me most, learning how they needed to learn. I have been a tutor in one setting or another since childhood. As an undergraduate I was a teacher's assistant in English, German and Astronomy, a grader in Calculus and a tutor in Physics for scientists and engineers. I have continued to... [more]

Geometry has perhaps the most varying curriculum across all high school math courses. Proofs and constructions make up the core of some geometry curricula but are nearly absent from others. This can make finding a tutor difficult, since a particular geometry course might include niche subjects that are not a large part of future standard math education. Over 7 years of general science and math tutoring, I have instructed students in many geometry courses. I know what to expect and can help with any high school geometry course. [more]

I have a PhD in chemical engineering. I have 3 years experience tutoring students in college and currently am teaching Math in college. Mathematics is a language. I know this language pretty good and having a PhD in engineering major makes me excellent at all subjects in math. Chemical engineering is my major and I have been in engineering school studying it for 12 years. So, I would say I am an experienced chemical engineer with extensive knowledge mainly in Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics ... [more]

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, from Algebra to Geometry. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: As an undergraduate student at Florida International University (FIU) from 2001 to 2005, I often found myself tutoring my study groups in several subject areas, from Biochemistry to advanced Calculus, which greatly helped my performance in each class. By my senior year, I obtained a teaching assistantship for a graduate level [more]

Hello! I am a physics PhD student at UC Berkeley and also currently a Graduate Student Instructor teaching freshman physics to 50 students. I graduated with a BS in physics from Caltech. I have extensive prior tutoring experience. I worked at Kumon, an extracurricular tutoring service, for three years, working with students on all levels of math and critical reading. In high school, I was also a peer SAT tutor. As an undergraduate, I worked as a Caltech RISE tutor, a program that aids local ... [more]
