Geometry is the study of shapes, dimensions, and orientation in environments of varying structure. Understanding geometry and the rules that govern it is a skill that can be learned by refining how one looks at the world around all of us. In the past 6 years, I have tutored students in algebra, geometry, calculus, and multi-variable calculus. My experience is abundant with regards to all age levels, including adults of over 40. Since I believe in teaching mathematics in an applied way, my tutoring approach is particularly well-suited for improvement in geometry. I hold a Master's in Applied [more]

I have my undergraduate degree in History, and my graduate degree in Secondary Education with five years professional tutoring experience and teaching certificates in three states for social studies from grades 5-12. In this time I also spent two years substituting and assisting in middle and high school classes. There I developed a strong reputation with both students and teachers, and was frequently requested by teachers to cover their classes. I am no stranger to ASVAB prep and have helpe... [more]

As a math major, I was one of the few who took Geometry again in college, just to master it. I have been tutoring Geometry since 2004. Geometry is the first time many students learn about the abstract parts of mathematics and this can be difficult to wrap your head around. I enjoy making Geometry a little more understandable. I also am very good at constructions, thought that is usually only one chapter of the class. You will also get to learn the basics of a proof, and all about shapes. There is a lot of memorization in Geometry, which few students are prepared for. Hopefully w [more]

I have taught high school math from pre-algebra and calculus, including geometry, for thirty years with high rate of student success. Understanding Geometry is a prerequisite for future and more advanced math classes from algebra 2 to pre-calculus and calculus. I am a credentialed mathematics teacher. I have taught high school and community college subjects in math for thirty years. My bachelor's degree and two years of graduate work are in mathematics and statistics from University of California in Berkeley. I have a master's degree in educational technology from Peperdine University. I, also [more]

Having had tutors throughout my academic career, I understand the huge impact a tutor can make in a student's life. A great tutor not only helps a student feel more CONFIDENT about their study habits, but also challenges them to CONTINUE LEARNING about subjects that interest them. I'm MEL and I'd love to work with you and your family! I have over 7+ YEARS of private TUTORING EXPERIENCE in subjects such as MATH, ENGLISH, STUDY SKILLS, and TEST PREP from PRE-K through COLLEGE. I spent this pas... [more]

I really enjoy helping students reach their goals. Your goal may be "getting" math. Or doing better on a hard test than you ever have before. Or improving your English. Piano-playing is also a joy -- as much for you to learn as for me to teach. Let me help you learn better by making the most of your strengths and overcoming your weaknesses. We set up a plan just for you. You can measure your success along the way. You may need to meet twice weekly, or only for a few se... [more]

First and foremost I am a teacher/facilitator/guide: I have assisted people of all ages in a vast array of subjects, including ecology, sea kayaking, rock climbing, writing, Permaculture, falconry, Shakespeare (reading comprehension), personal growth/development, mountain biking skills, archery, sustainable edible home landscaping, basic bicycle maintenance, study habits, and of course biology and English (I hold degrees in and am published in both fields). Currently, as well as tutoring a va... [more]

I am a native Japanese living in Ventura county for 15 years. I graduated from a university in Japan with a BS in mathematics. Though I do not have actual teaching experience as a teacher, I have a math teaching credential for junior high and high schools in Japan. After I came to the US, I earned a Master's of Education degree with the math teaching credential for junior high and high schools in California, however it is expired. When I was a college student in Japan, I have tutored sever... [more]

Currently I am a teacher of Chemistry and Physics at a CA High School. Previously I have been an educational professional for 40 years, starting as a teacher of Math and Physics in High school to AP/1st year undergraduate level and I hold teaching credentials in both California and the UK. Later I taught Chemistry (the subject of my degree) to the same standard. I have many former students who have studied at the top UK Universities; Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham, Imperial London and so ... [more]

Hi! I've been a tutor since high school, though my first paying tutoring gig turned up after I'd graduated and moved away for college. I've worked at college tutoring centers, private academies, and independently. My experience at tutoring centers was as a drop-in tutor -- students could arrive at the tutoring center without having made an appointment to receive a quick lesson or two. At the private academy, I was an SAT instructor for small classrooms, with no more than eight students per s... [more]
