When I teach math concepts such as Geometry/Math 2, I try to make it more engaging for the student by connecting the math concepts to other subjects. Some students relate more to the language of math so I'll discuss the etymology of unique math terms. Math has a natural connection to history and science and Geometry/Math 2 especially connects well to the arts and architecture. I also find real-world applications for the math concepts so students see how relevant math is in their lives. Bay Area credentialed math teacher available for tutoring Advanced Math. Geometry is an important subject to learn because it teaches the student how to logically solve a problem using a given set of information to prove that other properties are true about a given shape. The analytical skills that are developed in this course are important for any line of work that the student will pursue in the future. My geometry tutoring focuses teaching these analytical skills with an emphasis on how they can be used in a wide range of fields including engineering and computer science. [more]

I have quite a bit of experience as a teacher, tutor, and trainer in a variety of areas. Through high school and college I was a math tutor and have been tutoring professionally for the past two years around 70 hours each week while my fiancee attends graduate school. I have worked with at least 10 different students in all major mathematics classes starting with Algebra through Advanced Calculus. I work with many college students at Stanford or Santa Clara University during the day, and meet... [more]

Simply put, geometry is the study of the size, shape and position of 2 dimensional shapes and 3 dimensional figures. However, geometry is used daily by almost everyone. In geometry, one explores spatial sense and geometric reasoning. Geometry is found everywhere: in art, architecture, engineering, robotics, land surveys, astronomy, sculptures, space, nature, sports, machines, cars and much more. When taking geometry, spatial reasoning and problem solving skills will be developed. Geometry is linked to many other topics in math, specifically measurement and is used daily by architects, enginee [more]

I have taught geometry at several high schools and enjoy this part of the curriculum especially. This is because my graduate work was in mathematical logic (which fascinates me). Geometry is the first high school experience a student has with logic as an explicit part of mathematics. My deep understanding of logic allows me to make Geometry simple and understandable.
