When I teach math concepts such as Geometry/Math 2, I try to make it more engaging for the student by connecting the math concepts to other subjects. Some students relate more to the language of math so I'll discuss the etymology of unique math terms. Math has a natural connection to history and science and Geometry/Math 2 especially connects well to the arts and architecture. I also find real-world applications for the math concepts so students see how relevant math is in their lives. Bay Area credentialed math teacher available for tutoring Advanced Math. Geometry is the first high school experience a student has with logic as an explicit part of mathematics. My deep understanding of logic allows me to make Geometry simple and understandable. Geometry is really fun to learn and I like it as a tutor. A good grounding in geometry is very useful in everyday life. It is a stepping stone to taking higher level math classes like calculus. It is also a high school graduation requirement in California schools so it is important to pass this class. I took geometry in high school and have been using it ever since. I have successfully tutored geometry for the last six years. I am very passionate about tutoring and my students. I completed Geometry Honors during my freshman year of high school. During junior and senior year, I tutored underclassmen in math, including Geometry. This tutoring included help with homework as well as exam prep. In recent years working with Geometry students, I have emphasized application of formulas through practice problems as a natural way of committing those formulas to memory. I also have refined a strategy for approaching proofs in a systematic and concise manner, thus relieving students of the anxiety associated with this topic. [more]
