I have taught all of Cuesta's math classes from arithmetic (Math 003 at Cuesta) through pre-calculus (Math 242) for the last 25 years. I also was the Math Lab coordinator for 12 years (until the program was discontinued due to budgetary constraints) where I tutored everything from arithmetic (Math 003) through second semester calculus (Math 265B). I have helped former students all over the state who thanked me for helping them be successful in their math classes. My wife tells me that she can... [more]

There is a plethora of experienced tutors available to you, but here are some of the things that set me apart: *Perfect SAT/SAT II scores - In addition to a 2400 SAT, I have scored an 800 GRE and a 780 GMAT. *Extraordinary track record - The vast majority of my students see unusually high results. My students frequently go from producing C, D, or F material to B or A material within the first couple weeks. My long time SAT students average between 300 and 400 points improvement in their s... I'm a rising second year at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in physics. My main experience in tutoring comes from an organization called Citizen Schools, where I worked with low-income students after school to help them reach their full academic potential. As a relatively recent high school graduate, I understand the struggles that students may face and am better poised to help them navigate what can potentially be a turbulent time. Working with other people on proble... [more]

I have tutored and taught geometry on the college-preparatory and honors level for the last fifteen years. Teaching is not a profession but a calling for me. Ever since college I have been tutoring and helping students excel in their studies and acquire a love of learning. I hold degrees in education and psychology from Sofia University and have studied at Oxford University. A versatile tutor, I offer assistance in a wide variety of subjects - all levels of mathematics (elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus), physics, chemistry, Englis [more]

I graduated from Occidental College in the spring of 2010 with a degree in mathematics. I took extensive classwork in all areas of mathematics. My expertise is in applied math which is where my physics knowledge stems from. Following my graduation from Occidental in 2010 I have taken several business classes at local city colleges and been working. I currently work at a tutoring center running the after school high school math class where I tutor all levels of high school math, chemistry,... [more]

Hi! I'm Clarissa, I'm a PhD student at UC Santa Barbara. I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Northeastern University, where I minored in math and physics. Since I was in high school I have enjoyed tutoring, whether on a volunteer basis or in a more formal setting. I have quite a bit of experience tutoring my peers in advanced subjects, as well as working with disadvantaged K-12 students who don't have other opportunities for help outside the classroom. Whatever the context, I find it... [more]

Although I have enjoyed many of the positions I have held throughout my professional career, I am most passionate about teaching. I pursued and achieved a degree in Meteorology, a program in which one must excel in science, math, and writing. Since then, I have applied these skills in positions with the space program, providing weather forecasts to vessels on voyages across the all of the world's oceans, and presenting research for the National Weather Service. While in school, I spent a y... [more]

Geometry can be hard at first to picture or get the hang of it. I use multiple techniques that a student may use to memorize equations and work on homework problems. I evaluate students based on the previous lesson each time we meet with a small quiz. I will also leave homework assignments and examples that students may use to master topics and objectives. My passion for learning and great obsession with teaching come from those group projects in High School. Ever since, I have always been able to understand and explain subjects with ease. Now a college student majoring in Cellular and Molecul [more]
