Geometry is the basis for all higher math. This is where the concepts begin to get really abstract and it is very important to be able to find ways to visualize what is happening. If one can create a picture of what is happening in one?s mind, one can then remember the concepts and apply them to the situations which will be used in geometry and onwards. One of the ways I help students with this is by having them use what I call a ?trivial example?, which is an example of the rule which is so easy that I can?t get it wrong! This can help a student check the correct method even in a high-st [more]

Mathematics has always been one of my favorite subjects. I have taken college level courses in advanced math, including geometry, and teaching mathematics. At my last school, I taught geometry to high school students on an individual basis, much like tutoring, using several different computer platforms. I also taught geometry concepts to students in small groups, according to what skills they needed to pass the AIMS test. I believe that knowing how to work with circles is essential to success in geometry. This is an area that many students have difficulty with. I carefully teach my students [more]

While earning my degree in the History of Western Mathematics and Sciences, I was exposed directly to the beauty of Euclid's Elements - the first comprehensive Geometry text. I was so enamored by the beauty of Euclid's logic that I began to tutor while still in college in order to bring the joy of learning to underprivileged students, and finally even accepted an Honors Geometry teaching position at Chandler Preparatory Academy. I loved Geometry in high school. At first, like many students, I was confused by all of the different angles and numbers, however, I soon found my niche and from there it was smooth sailing. One of the things that I took pride in that year was being able to help my fellow students who were having trouble in Geometry. Between my love of the subject, and already helping other students learn how to do it well, I know that I can be the right tutor for you. If you want an easy going, stress-free, mistakes-okay environment to learn Geometry in, then I am the tutor for you. As of December 2016 I've [more]
