Geometry may seem like an unimportant branch of mathematics compared to Algebra, but it shows up later in Calculus and other advanced branches regularly. Therefore, I frequently work with students at all levels in honing their geometry skills, especially logic and reasoning. I specialize in Calculus and Physics tutoring, but also work with many students in Algebra, Geometry, and Precalculus. I studied Physics at Knox College in Illinois, graduating early in November of 2014. My main areas of interest are Astronomy/Astrophysics and Quantum Mechanics, but I'm well-versed in many areas of Physi [more]

I love teaching. More specifically, I love being part of someone's discovery that math isn't really a foreign language and that writing doesn't have to be a torturous process. I believe that learning should be fun, and enjoy seeing the satisfaction, confidence, and wonder that comes with understanding and success. As a high school senior, I student taught a sophomore biology class as part of an education course, and assisted with developmentally delayed and ESL courses. At Seattle Central Co... [more]

Geometry give you an ability to write graphs and diagrams as well as to visualize shapes. We can't think of geometry separately form algebra. Without skills of algebra, it's hard to study geometry. Because of graphs and diagrams, you can improve your ability to look at things from different angles. It's a very fun subject. Studying math gives you an ability to think, analyze, organize and calculate. It's not just an addition or multiplication. It improves our cognitive skills. I also want to emphasize that there is no quick fix or magic pill to improve your child's math ability. You need t [more]

I encourage my students to become independent learners. Although I am confident in my ability to break down scientific concepts and principles, my goal is to guide the student through the lesson plan and develop crucial study skills, while resorting to explanations to avoid hindering the flow of the lesson. Unfortunately, most students who request tutoring in math and science have lost confidence in themselves from the shortcomings of the educational system. It is important for me to pract... [more]

I did quite well in all my middle and high school math classes, including geometry. I was often the go-to girl for helping my friends understand math concepts they were struggling with. I was able to figure out how to explain the concepts or problems in a way that made sense to them. Later, I used those same skills in a math tutoring program I helped set up at my high school through our school's chapter of the National Honor Society. I eventually majored in mathematics at Rice University, where I was an academic fellow, tutoring students in college-level mathematics, among other subjects. Whe [more]

I am also available to tutor science classes: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students taking my lessons will learn the material for their course and study strategies that will help them in future classes. My approach is to teach the student how to identify the nature of the problem and to recognize the appropriate way to solve it. We work through t... [more]
