I am available to tutor any area of mathematics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, etc. I can also help with more advanced college-level topics. My experience with advanced mathematics gives me insight into how different mathematical concepts are connected, which means that I can present these ideas in several different ways. So if one way of looking at a problem doesn't work for you, I can find others! I remember my o... [more]

My name is Ron and I have enjoyed working with and learning arithmetic, mathematics and science all my life. I will tutor from any one of the town libraries in Agawam, MA or East Windsor, Suffield, and/or Windsor Locks, CT. From when I was four years old helping my dad with home projects we built and flew radio-controlled balsa-wood airplanes, always fixed cars, repaired lawnmowers when needed ? he was an engineer ? and we were do-it-yourselfers so we worked on everything ? we even built our ... My name is Ilia. My family came from Russia in 1998. During the course of my life in the US I have gained valuable experience in education and culture of this country. I am not only bi-lingual but I also consider myself bi-cultural, which enables me to understand people from many walks of life and look at them from different standpoints. In my years in Russia I received excellent education as I attended something of an equivalent of prep schools in the US. In high school I studied physics and... [more]

About Elaine: I studied and worked through two successful careers. I earned a BA in Humanities, an MA in Media Theory and Technology and Society, and finally an M.Ed. in Integrated Curriculum. Developing myself as a highly qualified secondary mathematics teacher started with my 1st class of 6th grader students. A simple scaling lesson turned into 3-D playground designs used by the architect of their new school building. Soon after I advanced to teaching middle school student all scoring ... [more]

I love helping students with math--I graduated from Westfield State University with a degree in math and certifications in education. I have spent the last year tutoring students in a behavioral hospital setting. I have experience with a wide variety of topics in math and I am able to help with homework or plan full lessons to help students grasp topics they struggle with. I believe that being able to visualize math is important, and I am always prepared with manipulatives, drawings, and ... [more]

I am interested in tutoring students in middle school, high school, and college level Algebra I and II and Geometry. Most recently, I have tutored adults and teens who were preparing for the GED test. I found this job very rewarding as it was always a pleasure to see a student progress from struggling with math to succeeding in it. I enjoyed answering their queries when they had a problem. By listening to them, I gained insight about their knowledge of a particular type of problem. Even though I majored in pre-medicine at Clark University, I have always loved the field of mathematics. Despite [more]

I am presently an actuary at one of the leading insurance companies in the US with a focus on system development in the Life and Annuity area. Historically, I have had the occasion to tutor individuals to successful results in their respective examinations. I am not a fan of the overnight approach as there are no shortcuts to true success. Mathematics is essentially thinking and a proper foundation remains key. One of my objectives with a student is the identification and correction of funda... [more]

Geometry is simply the mathematical study of shapes. It is at the core of mathematics and science, which I use every day as a medical physicist and as a physics PhD candidate conducting research. I've formally taught physics and calculus and this has required teaching geometry as well. I'm a medical physicist working in industry while finishing my PhD. Along the way, I've spent four years teaching introductory physics and tutoring calculus. Although what really sets me apart is my ability to communicate. I'm very responsive to emails, I work well with schedules, and I just really enjoy teachin [more]
