Math in general has always been a specialty of mine; Geometry in particular I took in ninth grade and got a High A. As with most math-based classes, understanding the logic and the process has always been essential to me in succeeding, and passing that on to others has always garnered positive results. I am a West Point graduate who has been to thirteen countries and traveled through most of the US. In those travels I have experienced a great deal of life, and worked alongside many people in all walks of life. I have studied and learned a wide variety of topics to one degree or another, and am [more]

I have a BS in Geology and have worked for many years on environmental projects. I am a good candidate for tutoring because strong math, chemistry, and physics skills are necessary to complete a geology degree. In college, I spent a semester tutoring freshmen in math and science. Also, as a NY resident I have experience with the standardized testing in this state and have scored highly on all of the math and science tests I have ever taken. I have experience with the following subj... [more]

I have taught geometry for 2 years in a classroom. The beauty of it and why I find it to be fun is that we are surrounded by it. The ancient Greeks were mesmerized by the physical world so much that they tried to explain and organize properties of objects; from this arose the branch of geometry. Its usefulness can help us build a wood deck on a house or appreciate the immensity of the pyramids of Giza. A fun exercise I treat my students to is building a kite to fly out of tissue paper and chop sticks. Finally, I am a sailor and sailboats are drenched in geometry beginning with a triangular [more]

I have been working in the education field with children ages 4-18 for many years. I have also tutored many adults through various math courses as well as for exams such as the GED. I have excelled in mathematics all through school. I have taken all honors classes and received high grades. I was in the Center for Advanced Technologies program at my high school which enabled me to take classes in math computers and science that were well above my grade level. I enjoy doing math problems in my... [more]

Teaching is something that I have always enjoyed. I have a strong background in science, and with that, a desire to learn and to share that knowledge. Although I do not plan to pursue a career in teaching, it is something that I have always enjoyed and valued, and I try to include it in my life. As a graduate student, I received the Graduate Student Teaching Certificate from Penn State which involved training courses and 4 semesters of teaching. Additionally, I have been active for five years... [more]

I can teach Algebra, Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics. I have tutored online, but I much prefer teaching in person. I have two children now in college, at Ivy League schools. I was their primary caregiver throughout their childhood, and helped them with their schoolwork whenever they needed it. They both took math up through AP calculus (one of them took Calculus BC). One of them took AP Chemistry, the other took AP Physics, so I have seen some of the work done in those classes. My... [more]
