Hi, my name is Stephen F. I am a teacher at Hillsborough County. I am currently certified to teach 6-12 Math. I have background knowledge on all things algebra, fractions, graphing, and some springboard knowledge. I'm a volunteer for the Big Brother, Big Sister program for the past three years. On my downtime I like being out on and in the water - kayaking, paddle boarding or just being on the beach. I've taught students who struggled in Algebra. It's really not that difficult, it may be c... [more]

Geometry is often misunderstood by students because of the concepts that are being taught, that differ from algebra. With some help, I have seen many start to enjoy geometry and see the importance of doing well in this important subject. The school year is beginning. Rather than wait and get into difficulty with a subject, why not consider a tutor to help smooth out the anxious moments. It is preferable to deal with these issues before the grades reflect problems. Or if you are studying for the SAT or ACT or PERT , I have had great success with helping students marvelously improve their [more]

I have a Florida State teaching license in math 6-12 and a New York State teaching license in math 6-12, including Geometry. Hey ya'll, I am a certified 6-12 math teacher, originally from upstate New York. I have been teaching a vast array of levels for five years, in the discipline of Mathematics. I have also taught in multiple States and students from diverse backgrounds. Geometry and Algebra are my foci. My teaching pedagogy is a mix of inquiry-based learning and structured growth measures. For the past 13 years, I have taught elementary classrooms, small group ESL for elementary ages, adult ESL, and I have tutored in math and elementary subjects. I have loved my small group and one-on-one teaching the most because I feel like I can really cater my teaching to my students' individual needs and help them make the most progress. I minored in mathematics for my undergraduate degree. I have always loved math. As a student in middle school, high school, and even college, I often ... [more]

I recently relocated from the northeast to Wesley Chapel, FL in order to be closer to family and be as far away from those cold snowy winters as possible. For the better part of 10 years I played professional poker, which requires a high level of intelligence, keen observation and adaptability, and a strong foundation in mathematics. On top of that, I started a private SAT prep business with a former English Professor in Philadelphia in 2004. He took care of the English, I took care of t... [more]

I have tutored multiple students in Geometry. All of them have shown increased test scores and understanding of the material. One student (as shown on my student feedback page) quickly raised her Geometry grade from an F to a B and developed a love for math. My current Master's program at USF also has covered this topic, featuring study on the van Hiele model of geometric thought development. I currently am a Middle School Math Teacher in the Public School System. I hold a B.A. from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Florida [more]

Geometry introduces geometric reasoning (the study of shapes) as a method for problem solving. If the student wants to cover specific subjects, I will work on those subjects. I always go through algebra basics in a short review because these basics are still used in geometry. If the student is "home schooled", I teach geometry in 10 two hour lessons. I physically (through pen and paper, as well as online) show the properties of geometric figures such as triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons. I show and help the student practice using mathematical language to express important g [more]
