The study of logic, angles, and shapes. Geometry challenges students to think abstractly and to grow as a math student. I have taught Algebra through Pre-Calculus for 5 years and tutored all levels of college math for 4 years. I enjoy helping a student see the fun and excitement in learning that he or she can be good at math. Many times there are several ways to reach a solution to a math problem. I help a student find their best route.... [more]

I teach geometry in the classroom to students of all different ability levels (from honors/accelerated to those struggling with basic algebra skills). I have also tutored students in the subject regularly after school. Students have reported increased skills and positive learning outcomes after taking my class in this subject. My tutoring method is inquiry-based and consists of asking the students questions to draw out pre-existing knowledge, then refining the questions to isolate which specific steps in the problem-solving process are causing confusion. I have taught Geometry at a local High School, which has helped me to understand student's challenges with the subject. Finally putting my job aside to pursue my passion, I left engineering and completed both a Math degree (Dean's list) and a secondary math teaching license in 2013. I tutored my way through school and students, at a minimum, raised one letter grade. Most importantly they gained an appreciation of learning how to think, as I guide them through a process of understanding. Having taught in various middle and high school classrooms for the last four years, I understand what a t [more]

My passion for tutoring started my freshman year of college when I spent two days a week working with children at the Boys and Girls Club of America. I specialized in tutoring Science, Math, English, and Reading. Whatever they were struggling with, I was happy to help. During my sophomore year I was selected to be a Biology lab teaching assistant. As a TA I was expected to professionally help out with any questions or issues students had in the lab while maintaining proper safety procedures. ... [more]

I am qualified to teach geometry as I am licensed in the state of Colorado and Indiana to teach math grades 7-12. I have taught geometry in multiple schools including Northfield High School here in Denver. Availability: Mon/Tue/Wed afternoons & evenings. Location: Standley Lake Public Library. Attending Purdue University for math education, I quickly learned how much I love helping students understand math. It's my passion. I've found that simply learning formulas isn't the right way to learn. Students need to know what's going on, and then the formulas become easy! I have taught math at the [more]
