I am a practicing attorney who graduated with honors from SUNY Buffalo Law School. Before I enrolled in law school, I worked for an international test prep organization, helping students to prepare for the SAT and ACT exams in both classes and individualized tutoring. There are many test prep programs that can help a student increase his or her score in a classroom setting; many students, however, see their scores increase faster with individualized tutoring, which allows for more particulari... I work with creative gifted students and adults who want to accelerate their studies. My gifted youth program teaches students many subjects. In elementary math fundamentals we cover patterns and algorithms alongside fundamental studies. In algebra we use video games to build understanding and practical work to build confidence in the basics of abstract math. Geometry is used to understand proof work and to gain a better understanding of algebra skills through real world examples. Depending ... [more]

I have taught an Algebra 2/Geometry class previously. As such, I am very comfortable with the material. I aim to help students break down problems into manageable steps so that they can approach the solution with confidence. I also help students to see how the subject connects to their previous math classes so that they can see the continuity and draw on their prior knowledge. I have over ten years of experience tutoring various subjects from writing and elementary math to college level statistics. I started tutoring as a way to assist my friends and family members who were in need of help, an [more]

I am a pharmacist and worked as a staff and supervisor at the hospital for 8 years. I am very passionate about math and teaching. Even though I have a strong science background, I decided to direct my tutoring to math because I believe that a higher level of excellence can be achieved when the scope of my teaching is more focused. Also, I love to work with younger students, so I enjoy teaching elementary students in all subjects. As a tutor, I go beyond the confines of academics and e... [more]

The key to a successful tutoring - when it comes to Geometry - is making sure the student visualizes what is being communicated - in three dimension. I do it by finding ways to relate what is being discussed to a real life example. Once a student understands that Geometry really is about objects you can touch, measure and alter, a sense of familiarity sets in and understanding becomes easier. I do this with every student and they have all improved significantly. I have always liked explaining, and I found out that I am good at it when I got to college, where we were encouraged to help one anot [more]
