As a State Certified (and background checked) Secondary Math Teacher, I have been involved in teaching and tutoring Geometry for over 17 years. I have learned that Geometry has to be taught for "understanding", not just for memorization of formulas and methods that can be quickly forgotten if the basic understanding has not occurred. I have successfully tutored geometry to support students in their normal classes, for STAAR, PSAT, SAT and ACT test prep, as well as for students requiring Geometry knowledge for other subjects. As I also tutor reading and writing (as well as other core subjects), [more]

I have had a career in astronomy which included Hubble Space Telescope operations, where I became an expert in Excel and SQL, and teaching college-level astronomy and physics. This also involved teaching and using geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Recently I have developed considerable skill in pre-AP chemistry tutoring. My most effective and enjoyable teaching is one-on-one instruction where I can assess the student's level of understanding of math or science and build from t... [more]

Alongside my undergraduate degree in mathematics, I earned a minor in education. While earning that degree, I tutored high school students in various mathematics subjects. My math background extends from basic math through calculus and differential equations all the way to numerical analysis. I went on to study business and accounting at the graduate level. I currently have a career in the accounting field. My job encompasses cost accounting, month end closing journal entries, and accounts pa... [more]

Math for Teachers is a course that dives deep into geometry. I teach teachers how to teach geometry by using fun activities that will help them remember and fully comprehend the material. I can teach you (or your student) the same methods! Dear potential students, Math has always been my favorite subject, but I understand that not everyone shares my feeling on the subject. I received my bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M - Kingsville. I worked at as an engineering assistant with the Texas Department of Transportation and for the City of Dallas. I then began to teach at a [more]

I have a masters in math from 1975. During my 10 years of tutoring, I have tutored middle school and high school geometry several times. I tutored one student during his entire year taking geometry. I have a formula sheet from his business calculus book that has area and volume formulae. While teaching middle school math in Illinois, I taught transformational geometry to 7th grade students. My greatest reward is to see the "light bulb," the "now I understand," look. During my years as a student, at all levels, I helped my fellow students. Some told me that I could explain better than the [more]

During the last two years of high school, I had a few friends reach out to me for help with subjects they were struggling with (particularly math and computer science). As I worked with them, word got around about my service and I began to develop a small tutoring business. I taught algebra, calculus, Java, and even some basic chemistry. Tutoring is especially enjoyable for me because I love explaining complicated subjects in simple ways that can enable a student to make a connection or s... [more]

I've tutored or taught math in general for nearly a decade, and my most advanced coursework in college involved geometry. I've previously worked in a high school geometry classroom both teaching and tutoring, in addition to tutoring the subject privately. I've worked in a tutoring or teaching role for most of my adult life, and I love helping other people learn! While earning my B.S. in math, I worked in my university's math clinic, tutoring a variety of (math) subjects, and while I was in graduate school I was a teaching assistant in the math department for two years, and for one year I work [more]

Hello, I'm Samuel. If you are looking for an experienced tutor with proven results, exceptional skill, and patience to spare then look no further. I have both personal and professional experience in tutoring, and am a firm believer in teaching to understand concepts to truly grasp the material. I have coached for 2 years at the college level, working at the NCTC Math Lab. When I began the lab was rarely used and I was one of two staff. By the end of the semester the room was full to burst... [more]
