I've worked with hundreds of students in classrooms and dozens of students individually. I taught high school math in Ft Lauderdale for 8 years and have been tutoring for the past 10 years. I love working with students individually as they can make huge learning gains in a short period of time with the right tutor. I believe I am that tutor. Besides helping a student academically I always strive to help them with their confidence. Often times students are telling themselves they can't do... [more]

I excelled in math before I became an English Literature and Spanish major at UNCW. I entered the university with the plan to specialize in physics because I enjoy thinking logically and spatially. Geometry is a fun subject for me because I have a strong understanding of trigonometry from a university course that I excelled in and enjoyed, and I had an effective teacher in high school. Although I'm not specializing in mathematics now, my understanding of geometry is sufficient enough that I am confident I can help students get ahead in their classes with practice and deep explanation of materi [more]

I graduated from Duke in 2015 with a double major in Mathematics and English, and I'm currently back living in Wilmington while taking a semester away from law school at UNC-Chapel Hill. My tutoring experience began in earnest during my sophomore year of college when I began working part-time tutoring students enrolled in Calculus 1, 2, and 3. Over the course of those first three years I developed a tutoring philosophy that focuses on meeting students where they are, and then building them ... [more]

I have been a student (I have 4 degrees in mechanical engineering, 3 of them advanced.) and a teacher (I have been full time faculty, visiting professor, adjoint and online faculty.) for a very long time. My teaching style and philosophy have developed and matured based on these experiences. When I teach, I try to emulate my best teachers, and I also share with my students the ways in which I understood and sometimes discovered concepts. I believe that understanding the fundamental princ... [more]
