As Valedictorian of my high school class and a Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University with a BA degree in English, I have a record of excellence in education. I have imparted my love of learning to my students whom I have tutored for the last 15 years. From tots to teens, I have tutored children in everything from phonics to reading to writing essays to writing for the SAT. I have personally taught 3 children how to read by the age of 3 years old! In addition, I have tutored kids in ev... [more]

I have very keen insight into general Mathematical, Algebraic and Geometric concepts such that effective problem-solving strategies of the types emphasized on the GMAT can be modeled for the student. I specialize in the math section of the GMAT but will tutor all sections of the GMAT. My GMAT score was 700 out of 800. A little about me: I've been tutoring students in math since the age of 15 (I'm 28 years old). I have my teaching certification in math for grades 6-12. I worked at Texas Instruments for the past 4 years and I'm really passionate about explaining the thinking process/theory behind math concepts and not just steps to solve a problem. I love 1:1 tutoring more than classroom teaching because I get to tailor lesson plans to specifically fit the needs, interests, and lea [more]

The GMAT quantitative (math) test can be quite a challenge for those who haven't had a math class in a while. The good new is that the test involves only basic Algebra and Geometry concepts. The bad news is that the questions can be very difficult and calculator use is not permitted, so calculations have to be done by hand - yes, fractions too! In addition to tutoring, I've been developing and teaching GMAT math classes at the University of Texas at Dallas for several years. I enjoy sharing strategies about how to choose answer choices more accurately and quickly and helping students dust off [more]

Having tutored GMAT quantitative mathematics quite a bit, explaining how to solve these word problems and the logic behind some of them is the key to passing this section of GMAT. Many students have problems with word problems, especially the type found in GMAT, and if English is their 2nd language, this becomes an even greater challenge. My ability to explain things simply and in a mathematical setting, is my expertise. I majored in engineering and minored in math. My career was in telecom/computers with extensive mathematical analytics. I tutor almost any college and high school math cou [more]
