I'm John, and I do a little bit of everything! I'm currently a medical student at the University of Wisconsin, and I did my undergrad at the University of Minnesota. In between, I did a couple of terms of service with AmeriCorps - first as a math tutor at Pratt Community School in Minneapolis, and later as a math tutor at Memorial High School in Madison. My approach to tutoring is that all students can be successful if they are well understood and if concepts and ideas are communicated clear... [more]

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Doctorate in Chemistry. I have taught mathematics and chemistry at two universities in Massachusetts and Wisconsin. I have mastered skills in many diverse areas. Determination, confidence, and knowing how to study have been the keys to my success. I focus on helping my students build these fundamental attributes in addition to learning the subject. After 14 years in government-sponsored research, I turned to education out of the desire to work in a more people-centric field. I have been an adjunct math instructor at Harper College for the past nine years. I have taught math courses to students ... [more]

I took the GMAT in order to get into a MBA school. I do well on test taking strategies like time management, process of elimination, reading comprehension, math, etc. I can review these with you. I mostly work with students now on the ACT & SAT. For the ACT, we will go over content that you must know for English & Math. For ex, there are specific reasons when to use a comma. Most likely, you were never taught that. In order to improve your score on the English section, you must learn and study that content. We will work on specific strategies for the Reading and Science sections. On [more]

As a Mathematics teacher for 9 years, I am the kind of teacher who actually teaches so students learn. For me, it wasn't about getting the right answer but it was more about understanding the material. Even though I taught Math, I would give short answer and essay questions on homework, quizzes and tests. This was to ensure understanding. Was it harder for me to grade? Absolutely. Did it take me longer than it could have? Yes. Why did I do it? Because I cared. Although I can teach m... [more]

I am the best deal in GMAT Prep. I score in the top 1% and have taught for the GMAT (and LSAT, GRE, ACT, and SAT) for over 12 years, including the past 10 for the leading elite-model GMAT company. I have taught hundreds of hours of GMAT from Boston to San Francisco, and that experience has made me one of the top instructors in the country! While I make more teaching for my employer, I understand that not everyone can afford their rates... so I am happy to teach via WyzAnt as well. I won't use my employer's books and materials, but I CAN still teach for less here. [more]

I've taught GMAT and other test prep for many years, including many years with a leading national test prep program. Scored 99%+ on my own pre-graduate school GMAT. I'm an experienced tutor and test prep instructor with a graduate degree from the University of Chicago. Beyond my formal education, I'm something of an autodidact, meaning that I enjoy learning, and am both formally educated and self-taught across a variety of disciplines. My formal education, both undergraduate and graduate, emphasized mathematics, economics/finance, accounting, natural sciences, and language. I'm also an avid re [more]
