With a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, I have mastered a variety of math and science subjects, and I enjoy helping others grasp those same concepts. Through teaching large college classes, tutoring one-on-one, and grading assignments, I have learned to look at problems and concepts from many different angles. This skill allows me to teach you the way you learn--whatever those learning styles may be. Much of teaching involves answering the question, ?why??: why does one approach work, while ... [more]

I've taken the general GRE a total of three times so far, and I've developed study techniques that have proven to be effective. In my most recent attempt at the GRE I scored a 167 on the quantitative section, which put me in about the 95 percentile range. I also have a lot of experience as a math tutor more generally, so you can count on me being able to explain the concepts effectively. As of now, I only tutor the quantitative section. Thank you for your time and interest! I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Berkeley and have been a full-time tutor since I graduated from college in [more]

I'm a college professor with 25+ years of experience teaching mathematics and computer programming. My favorite subjects include precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, optimization and numerical analysis. I believe the only way to learn mathematics or computer programming is by working through many exercises and problems. There's no way around this. It doesn't matter how well a lecture is presented or how good the teacher is. If you don't do the work yourself, you'll probably not succeed. ... [more]

My background is engineering, so I LOVE math and physics. Some years after college I decided to return to graduate school for a masters in teaching. I'm certified to teach high school math and physics, and I taught both subjects for three years in a Durham, NC. I've worked a number of jobs post-college, but the one thing they've all had in common is that they have all been with students. I enjoy working with people at the high school and college level. I've taught Algebra 1/2, Geomet... [more]

He helped me gain the confidence to do hard things and get a taste of success, which drove my ambitions to eventually pursue a PhD in engineering and become a licensed professional engineer. I have taught several courses at the University level and thoroughly enjoy helping students succeed and achieve their goals. Not everyone is so lucky to hav... [more]

Hi future students and parents!!! My name is Aki, and I'm a Physics/Calculus teacher at a small private school located in San Diego. I've started tutoring in 2012 at a prestigious tutoring facility. There I had the opportunity to teach a group of high school students SAT and ACT while creating materials for the AP tests. This experience made me realize how much I enjoy teaching! Naturally, I decided to take on teaching as my main occupation in 2015. Students will probably tell you that I'm ... [more]
