Affordable Tutor for Latin, Greek, German, English, Math

I have a MA in Classical Philology, which includes classical Greek language and literature. My thesis was on a topic in Homeric Greek, the use of the Greek phrase meaning "winged words." My course of study included reading and analyzing Greek texts by Homer, Plato, Sophocles, Herodotus, the New Testament, and the Lyric Poets. At Phoenix College I taught Greek 101-102 as an honors course for two years. I am currently reading Homer, Xenophon, and the New Testament on a daily basis. Sadly, modern conversational Greek is not among my areas of expertise and I would not attempt to tutor that. [more]

I have been teaching ancient Greek to college students for over twenty years. I first studied ancient Greek in college and eventually continued my training in classical philology with a PhD in classics. I started tutoring my peers while in college and as soon as I graduated I was hired to teach ancient Greek and other subjects in a high-school seminary in Italy. Nowadays I teach US college students at all levels, from elementary to advanced. In my tutoring, I focus on enhancing individual talent and on strengthening grammar background. [more]

Advanced tests like GRE? Math? Piano? I love helping students!

I really enjoy helping students reach their goals. Your goal may be "getting" math. Or doing better on a hard test than you ever have before. Or improving your English. Piano-playing is also a joy -- as much for you to learn as for me to teach. Let me help you learn better by making the most of your strengths and overcoming your weaknesses. We set up a plan just for you. You can measure your success along the way. You may need to meet twice weekly, or only for a few se... [more]

I received my bachelor's degree in History and Classics (the study of Greco-Roman literature, art, and history) from the University of Arizona. After completing my undergraduate education, I went on to receive teaching certification (grades 9-12) through the College of Education at the University of Arizona, as well as a master's degree in Classics from the same institution.
