The ISEE stands for the Independent School Entrance Exam and it is an admission test that contains four levels: primary, lower, middle and upper: ? Primary level is for students enrolled in grades 1, 2 and 3. It is an hour-long test which mainly focus on a reading and math section and a short writing sample. ? Lower level is for students currently in grades 4 and 5. ? Middle level is for students in grades 6 and 7. ? Upper level is for students in grades 8 through 11. For the Lower, Middle, and Upper levels, the ISEE consists of three parts: (1) carefully constructed and standardized verb [more]

I've worked with numerous students on all three major High School entrance exams: ISEE, SSAT, & CAHSEE. Often one of these tests is the first major standardized test a student takes, so it's very important that students have a healthy approach and don't get intimidated. The philosophies and strategies they learn for this test will carry over to other major standardized tests as well (PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT, etc.). Are you looking for an expert math & standardized test tutor with 10+ years of experience? Someone who doesn't just teach the subject, but also the psychology of elite test-takers? Som [more]

I have been coordinating and delivering a private ISEE class in concert with a private tutoring company for the last two years. My focus has been on the middle level ISEE exam, especially for the Math Achievement and Quantitative Reasoning subjects. I help kids with all aspects of the exam, but mathematics is my special area of expertise. I love math. I truly do. Since as long as I can remember, I've always found it fascinating, interesting, and highly rewarding. But what I love even more than ripping through a problem set is sharing my passion for math with ambitious students. I've be [more]

I have personally created over 700 ISEE practice problems while developing an online ISEE preparation course and summer ISEE bootcamp. I have worked with other top ISEE instructors to learn the ins and outs of the exam, and I have tutored multiple children for extensive periods in preparation for the ISEE. Ah Mathematics. The bane of existence for many a child. The mighty struggle of all struggles. Math can be confusing, confounding, careless, and cruel. It can make you want to grab your hair and tear it out. It can make you want to toss your textbook across the room and swear off math forever [more]

I have worked with many students over the years, preparing them for the lower and middle level ISEE exams in all subjects, and with upper level students on all sections but math. Many students struggle with writing essays under the pressure of a time limit, and I help each student find his or her best strategy for formulating a well-developed essay. I show students how to get adept at finding the salient points in each reading comprehension passage, also allowing for those who are more at ease reading for content thoroughly first, versus those who may do better by skimming quickly, reading [more]

I've worked for three different education companies in Los Angeles teaching ISEE (at every level!) to students. I've helped students reach their score goals and gain admission to schools such as Marlborough and Harvard Westlake. ISEE is the 2nd most popular subject I've tutored in the past year (behind SAT prep and just ahead of ACT prep.) As I have extensive experience teaching middle school math, and have scored perfectly on the SAT (recent test 2400), I also can apply my standardized test knowledge to the ISEE test. The ISEE is a standardized test used for admission to private school. [more]

I have tutored many students for the ISEE and they all passed easily. In addition to tutoring students I have also taken online practice exams and scored perfect 100% many times just to see where my level is at. To me, ISEE is the more difficult of the math type tests offered and runs along side SAT Math in format. I feel I am the most well rounded tutor for ISEE because not only do I tutor ISEE Math, but I also tutor CAHSEE, CHSPE, SAT Math, PSAT Math, PRAXIS, GRE Math, GED Math, ASVAB, and Finite Mathematics. This is on top of my normal Calculus and University level math I also tutor. My le [more]

I have tutored several students in ISEE test prep (Lower, and Upper Levels, so am qualified for ALL 3 levels of material). I use multiple source materials. Depending on the student's needs and number of sessions, I create a comprehensive study plan that takes us through all of the material, or I focus solely on weak areas identified through a diagnostic. I have tutored 40+ students in ISEE. I used to work for LA Tutors and South Bay tutors. I discovered in middle school that I have a knack for explaining things in a manner that is easy to follow, checking for comprehension along the way. [more]

Got trained and given a textbook for the test by Summit Educational Group in Boston in 2016. Familiar with all sections - math, synonyms, sentence completions and reading and know strategies for all sections. With my current student taking the lower level test we did lessons on fractions and equation solving before returning to the test style questions. For reading the best method is to process every paragraph by yourself and interpret it before proceeding onto the questions. For sentence completions the best clues come from conjunctive adverbs and it's ideal to think of your own answer [more]

I have tutored many students in taking the ISEE in the past. I help each student at their own pace in each section that includes verbal, mathematics, and writing skills. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in May 2012 with a BS in Meteorology and a Minor in Mathematics. I have recently finished my Master's in Applied Meteorology at Mississippi State University in 2014 and recently finished a professional certificate in Geographic Information Systems in 2016. Throughout my education, I have gained a background in Chemistry, Physics, and of [more]
