The class in differential equations that I took while I was a junior in high school included a component of linear algebra, and showed the intricate connection between the two subjects. This component of linear algebra, as it pertained to solving differential equations, was part of what I helped my first student with. One of my classes at Caltech was solely dedicated to the study of linear algebra, as a more theoretical concept. However, topics in linear algebra such as vector spaces and matrix manipulation applied themselves in a more concrete way to many of my other classes there. [more]

My PhD is in Physics where extensive use of linear algebra occurs. I have pear reviewed published papers in theoretical quantum mechanics where the overlying structure relies on linear algebra. Finally, I've tutored college level linear algebra courses for years. (( HIGHEST RATINGS! )) PARENTS: Bring the full weight of a PhD, as tutor, and student advocate. Hello Students! If you need help with mathematics, physics, or engineering, I'd be glad to help out. With dedication, every student succeeds, so don?t despair! Learning new disciplines keeps me very aware of the struggles all studen [more]

Studying linear algebra is much like learning a new language, or a new logical system where you have to think about proofs and axioms more so than in previous semesters of calculus. From my background in philosophy I offer helpful ways to think about vector spaces and axiomatic systems, which is typically what students struggle with in linear algebra. Having scored near the top of my linear algebra class at Penn I will also help build confidence in solving linear equations, though most students find the computational aspect of the mathematics less difficult than the theory. I took both Intro to Linear Algebra, a computational introduction to linear algebra, and Linear Algebra, a proof-based linear algebra course, at Rutgers University, and have tutored students in both courses. I received an A in both courses, having taken the first one my freshman year and the second my senior year. I graduated with a BA from Rutgers University in May 2014, and an M.Sc. in 2017 in Mathematical Finance. At Rutgers University, I worked as a math tutor from my first semester freshman year to my last semester senior year, tutoring subjects from algebra and precalculus to calculus 1- [more]

I passed Linear Algebra with an A in the Fall of 2010 at Kutztown University. I have been a curious student my whole life and I like to pass on not just knowledge, but my love of learning. I graduated High School with a GPA above 4.0 and immediately joined the US Navy in their Nuclear Propulsion program. I spent 4 years in the Navy learning about nuclear reactors and then decided to start a family when I got out. Since then I have finished my BS in Physics with a minor in Math graduating Cum Laude. I also was inducted into the physics honor society, Sigma Pi Sigma,... [more]

I scored 720 on the math section of the SAT test. I graduated magna cum laude from F & M with a degree in Physics and a minor in chemistry. I completed three courses in calculus, a differential equation course, and a Fourier transform course. OI have over 15 years of math tutoring experience primarily focused on upper level high school math up to pre-calculus. I can help you overcome any difficulties you are having with math up to and including trigonometry. With over 15 years of tutoring experience, I have successfully tutored many students with various aptitudes and personalities. These [more]

I have tutored Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and SAT Math for years. My SAT Math scores were in the 700s, although I went on to major in English. I am usually able to help students gain confidence and knowledge, and the two go hand-in-hand. My current tutoring in SAT prep has me right on top of this subject. I am an encourager by nature, so being a tutor allows me to do what I do best. I have experience teaching in public and private schools, in addition to my extensive tutoring background; but I enjoy being able to give individual instruction that is tailored to the specific needs, person [more]

I recently received my doctorate in physics from the University of California--Davis. During the last 3 years of my PhD, I tutored both high school and college students in physics and math. I've also lectured an introductory physics course and was a TA for introductory, advanced, and graduate-level physics and mathematical physics courses. I really enjoy getting to know students and helping them to succeed. I find it very rewarding when a student of mine understands a difficult concept a... [more]

I have tutored in the U. of Penn version of this course, Math 240, for many students and have designed and conducted interviews for prospective tutors in the subject for the Tutoring Center. I also have a graduate-level knowledge of the subject. I am currently a graduate student and teaching assistant in Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. During the course of my studies I have run recitations and workshops for mathematics courses from the pre-freshman to the postgraduate level, and have planned, designed, and taught two full-credit summer courses from scratch. I have been privately [more]

My teaching certificate for secondary school mathematics was earned in 1981, renewed in 1991, in the Commonwealth of Kentucky where I taught in the 1980s. My college training and my experience as a teacher included Linear Algebra as a subject. I taught linear algebra in Delaware (2010-2014) on a reciprocal teaching certificate issued in 2012, based on my California Teaching certificate (issued for life in 1969) and my Kentucky certificate. I teach exclusively one-on-one, and specialize in homebound students. I have been a teacher from 1969 to the present day, sometimes full-time and sometime [more]
