Studying linear algebra is much like learning a new language, or a new logical system where you have to think about proofs and axioms more so than in previous semesters of calculus. From my background in philosophy I offer helpful ways to think about vector spaces and axiomatic systems, which is typically what students struggle with in linear algebra. Having scored near the top of my linear algebra class at Penn I will also help build confidence in solving linear equations, though most students find the computational aspect of the mathematics less difficult than the theory. I am a college professor who teaches all levels of math, as well as general physics. (My undergraduate degree was a dual major in math and physics.) I've been teaching for 14 years and tutoring for 25 years. I also spent time in industry where I applied a lot of my knowledge to real-world problems. I'm a patient and careful teacher, and I've spent a lot of time thinking about how to explain difficult topics, and what students need to do to succeed. I think I know how to strike a balance be... I have tutored Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and SAT Math for years. My SAT Math scores were in the 700s, although I went on to major in English. I am usually able to help students gain confidence and knowledge, and the two go hand-in-hand. My current tutoring in SAT prep has me right on top of this subject. I am an encourager by nature, so being a tutor allows me to do what I do best. I have experience teaching in public and private schools, in addition to my extensive tutoring background; but I enjoy being able to give individual instruction that is tailored to the specific needs, person [more]

I have passed the University of Pittsburgh's PhD preliminary exam in linear algebra, and my Master's thesis investigated a recent approach to the Riemann Hypothesis involving convergence in an infinite-dimensional linear space. Also, I have tutored all levels of linear algebra for over ten years. Thank you to all my students, for continually allowing me to enhance your mathematics experience, and for rating me 5 out of 5 stars every time! I've had many math professors throughout undergrad and graduate school and I've found that, although they all know what they're talking about and are all v [more]

The class in differential equations that I took while I was a junior in high school included a component of linear algebra, and showed the intricate connection between the two subjects. This component of linear algebra, as it pertained to solving differential equations, was part of what I helped my first student with. One of my classes at Caltech was solely dedicated to the study of linear algebra, as a more theoretical concept. However, topics in linear algebra such as vector spaces and matrix manipulation applied themselves in a more concrete way to many of my other classes there. [more]

My PhD is in Physics where extensive use of linear algebra occurs. I have pear reviewed published papers in theoretical quantum mechanics where the overlying structure relies on linear algebra. Finally, I've tutored college level linear algebra courses for years. (( HIGHEST RATINGS! )) PARENTS: Bring the full weight of a PhD, as tutor, and student advocate. Hello Students! If you need help with mathematics, physics, or engineering, I'd be glad to help out. With dedication, every student succeeds, so don?t despair! Learning new disciplines keeps me very aware of the struggles all studen [more]

I scored 720 on the math section of the SAT test. I graduated magna cum laude from F & M with a degree in Physics and a minor in chemistry. I completed three courses in calculus, a differential equation course, and a Fourier transform course. OI have over 15 years of math tutoring experience primarily focused on upper level high school math up to pre-calculus. I can help you overcome any difficulties you are having with math up to and including trigonometry. With over 15 years of tutoring experience, I have successfully tutored many students with various aptitudes and personalities. These [more]

In the past 10 years, I have taught various freshman and sophomore level classes in mathematics which have included modules in linear algebra. I have also taught linear algebra in an operations management class and I have utilized linear algebra techniques in the workplace. I have been a part time college instructor for over 10 years at a local university. While I have mostly taught all levels of calculus and statistics, I can also teach college algebra and pre-calculus as well as contemporary math. My background is in engineering and business, so I use an applied math approach to teaching. [more]

I have taken Matrices (also called Linear Algebra) in college at Penn State and it is on my official transcript last semester. I also received an A in this course. I understand this material and would be able to teach it at a proficient level to students. Hello, I'm Vishnu! I'm a sophomore in college attending Penn State with a planned double major in Computer Science and Statistics. Mathematics and computer science are and will always be my favorite subjects to both teach and learn more about. Because I am still taking courses and learning, I know exactly what makes me learn best, and therefo [more]

I feel I am qualified to tutor in this subject as I have an extensive math background. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and earned an A in my undergraduate Linear Algebra course. I have always enjoyed math and have dedicated he majority of my academic career to studying math and statistics. While I enjoy this subject, I know not all share this feeling and that it can be a very frustrating subject at times. My strategy as a tutor is to help students understand the "why" behind each concept and not just rely on memorization. I also want to show students how math can be helpful and [more]
