During my undergraduate studies I got a 3.8 in a logic course, and during my graduate studies I got a 3.7 in a deductive reasoning course. On the logic section of the GRE test I was at the 91 percentile score level. I regularly use logical reasoning when explaining math to students, during my own graduate studies - MS in Mathematics earned 2012, and in every day life. I have 15 years of experience teaching mathematics to students of all ages and backgrounds, but I especially enjoy tutoring students one-on-one where I can focus on the student's individual learning needs. I have taught and tu [more]

Mastering proofs and analysis along with the formal logic behind mathematics has been a core part of my training in mathematics. I have tutored many students in the area of Math logic, and can help you or your child in this subject. I can help make understanding math logic easier by explaining how to set up proofs, what strategies to use when doing proofs, and what to look for and what to avoid. I have an undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Mathematics and Statistics with a Finance Cognate. I helped run the Math tutoring lab for almost 5 years, and have been tutoring for longer than tha [more]

I have a great love for Boolean and First-Order Predicate Logic. I have studied logic several times in both philosophy and mathematics courses, but most notably, I took a class in college on mathematical logic which concluded with a proof of The Soundness and Completeness Theorem of First-Order Predicate Logic and an in-depth examination of the Incompleteness Theorem of Arithmetic. I can help you understand deductions, argumentation, and model interpretations and extensions. I would need a refresher on model theory, the Compactness Theorem, and LST Theorem before I could tutor graduate-level l [more]

My University B.A degree from the University of California is Computational Mathematics, and I had to take several courses in Logic. One of these classes was taught by a world renowned professor, where I did get the highest grade in the class along another student who was studying for his PHD. Mathematical logic is the study of logic applied to different mathematical subjects often divided into the fields of set theory, model theory, recursion theory, and proof theory. Being a Certified mathematics Teacher, grades 6-12, I have taught high school mathematics for many years. I have also been tea [more]

I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles. I completed two lower-division philosophy courses in Logic as an undergraduate, one of which is now an upper-division philosophy course in the philosophy department at UCLA. These Logic courses were instructed by a world-renowned logician in the Philosophy department at UCLA by the name of David Kaplan, via a software program he authored, Logic 2000. I am a Top 1% WyzAnt Tutor and can provide verification from WyzAnt CEO Andrew Geant himself upon request. Please review my credentials and qual [more]

I took Logic during my undergraduate program at Indiana University and I have taken Discrete Mathematics at UNLV. Logic is seen in many math courses, such as probability, linear algebra, and statistics. In logic, you use many symbols. So being able to understand them and know how to utilize them is extremely important. MY TEACHING BELIEFS: I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students of all ages ranging from elementary math to advanced college courses, both privately and in large classrooms. I also believe that all students are different. Different students have different str [more]

Logic is one of my core areas of research interest and is the area I have the most experience teaching in. I have taken numerous graduate-level courses in logic, including Modal Logic and Metalogic. I developed and taught a university-level course covering both Propositional (Sentential) and Predicate (Quantificational) Logic. I have also worked with USC faculty to develop online resources for teaching and learning introductory logic, aimed at making the material accessible to visual learners unfamiliar with formal languages. I teach math at a community college, including a geometry course specifically designed to teach proofs of theorems. I have passed all three CSET exams in mathematics. I have over 28 years of experience using math as a software developer. My master's thesis in Computer Science was entitled "Provably Correct Software Design in an Embedded Real-Time Application." The emphasis of my MBA was Statistics and Operations Research. The first of my two undergraduate majors was in mathematics. Experience: Antelope Valley College Math Teacher, Sylvan Teacher, Substitute Teacher (K-12), Individual Tut [more]

I took the following logic related courses at the undergraduate level: 1) Critical Thinking 2) Reasoning Under Uncertainty (Bayesian probability) 3) Logic. I took a course in Advanced Logic at the graduate level. I got a 4.0 on all these courses. I graduated with honors in Philosophy from Pitzer College, where I did my Master's thesis on the topic of animal ethics within the society-centered meta-ethical view. I am able to assist with virtually any topic in philosophy, as well as English and writing. I specialize in helping my students formulate strong positions and argue well for those po [more]

As an undergraduate student at RPI I took several courses in Logic and Argument excelling in all. I loved the material. In my Digital Electronic Design Engineering background I studied Boolean Algebra as well as Binary Logic in courses such as Fundamentals of Logic Design. As an Engineer I applied all this knowledge in my Designing of Digital Electronic Circuitry. Whether it be verbal application or electronic application I'm quite well versed and am an excellent candidate to teach you the subject matter. [more]
