I've taken several college courses on logic, at both Moorpark College in CA and at The University of Hawaii at Manoa. My most important studying on the subject, however, has been self-directed. Due to my interests in philosophy and theology, I felt the need to study The Nine Rules of Inference carefully, along with common logical fallacies (and the subtle ways in which they violate the former). This has resulted in a fairly strong grasp of these topics. Aloha! I have two degrees: an AA in English from Moorpark College and a BA in English from U.H. Manoa (1996). Since childhood I have been a [more]

I have taken both graduate level and undergrad level classes in Logic. One bring Set Theory and Logic (undergraduate) and the other being Theory of Sets (graduate). I obtained a 4.0 in both. I have also taught logic in a high school classroom. I hold both a BA and a MA in mathematics, as well as a BA in Secondary Education. I have taught math at the middle school and the high school levels. I have also tutored college level math. My goal is to obtain my PhD in mathematics and become a college math professor. I am excited about math and I enjoy sharing that excitement with my students. I b [more]

One of the subjects I studied to complete my degree in mathematics is Mathematical Logic. Before I took this course, I was skilled in higher mathematics, but not masterful. It was a revelation! Not only did it make me a better mathematician, it made me a better writer. I began to see that mathematical proofs need not be frightening to the non-mathematical, to those more interested and skilled in the humanities, because mathematical proofs are nothing more than essays. They have introductory paragraphs, thesis statements, two or more paragraphs to support the thesis, and a concluding parag [more]

I have a Master's Degree in Mathematics. I have a strong working knowledge of set theory, model theory, recursion theory, and proof theory. I have experience teaching logic at the collegiate level. I have a strong passion for math and pride myself on making obscure concepts easy to understand and fun! I am a Lecturer at Leeward Community College and an Adjunct Instructor at Embry-Riddle University. I have previously taught at Gonzaga University and the University of Oregon. I have proven teaching skills to effectively communicate a wide range of mathematical concepts to a diverse group of st [more]
