During my undergraduate studies I got a 3.8 in a logic course, and during my graduate studies I got a 3.7 in a deductive reasoning course. On the logic section of the GRE test I was at the 91 percentile score level. I regularly use logical reasoning when explaining math to students, during my own graduate studies - MS in Mathematics earned 2012, and in every day life. I have 15 years of experience teaching mathematics to students of all ages and backgrounds, but I especially enjoy tutoring students one-on-one where I can focus on the student's individual learning needs. I have taught and tu [more]

I taught Logic as part of the finite math course I taught for 10 years at a community college. I'm a retired community college math professor who taught math for 28 years and tutored for several years. I love math and loved teaching and tutoring, but now that I'm retired I'm looking forward to tutoring exclusively. Tutoring affords me the opportunity to zero in on a student's strengths and weaknesses so I can tailor my lessons in such a way that that student will have the best chance of succeeding. I won't simply teach you the skills you'll need to be successful in your math cou... [more]

I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles. I completed two lower-division philosophy courses in Logic as an undergraduate, one of which is now an upper-division philosophy course in the philosophy department at UCLA. These Logic courses were instructed by a world-renowned logician in the Philosophy department at UCLA by the name of David Kaplan, via a software program he authored, Logic 2000. I am a full-time private tutor, specializing in English, primarily the SAT English & the ACT English, despite that I was also an SAT Math instruc [more]

I took the following logic related courses at the undergraduate level: 1) Critical Thinking 2) Reasoning Under Uncertainty (Bayesian probability) 3) Logic. I took a course in Advanced Logic at the graduate level. I got a 4.0 on all these courses. I graduated with honors in Philosophy from Pitzer College, where I did my Master's thesis on the topic of animal ethics within the society-centered meta-ethical view. I am able to assist with virtually any topic in philosophy, as well as English and writing. I specialize in helping my students formulate strong positions and argue well for those po [more]

I graduated with B.A. in Philosophy from U.C. Berkeley. I've taught informal and formal logic as part of DeCAL and privately. I've also published papers in undergraduate journals on first order logic paradoxes and classical logic. I've familiar with how to use computer programs for solving predicate/propositional logic equations. I've participated in nearly every form of academia, from being a student through college and Law school, to being a teacher and test prep tutor. I've been helping students for almost 10 years in subjects ranging from Math, English, Logic, Philosophy, History, Sociol [more]

This class has trained me to be comfortable and competent in using logical tools to analyze and understand arguments and to form my own. In the process of familiarizing myself with these tools, I was able come to a deeper understanding of the process of argumentation itself ? recognizing in greater detail the underlying structure of the arguments that bombard us every day and being able to respect and evaluate the various elements that can make those arguments strong or weak. Hit a wall? Hello Parents and Students! First and foremost, I frankly thank you for spending the time in surfing or [more]

I majored in philosophy at U.C. Berkeley, and logic was one of the core competencies of the curriculum. Among my coursework was a class dedicated solely to logic and another one was dedicated to analyzing fallacies. After that I earned two more degrees. Since then I have spent 18 years as a professional orator, and logic is a key component of persuasive oratory. TEACHING EXPERIENCE I've had vast experience in teaching and tutoring, including teaching history and philosophy at a graduate level, mentoring college students, and college career prep with high school students. I've been a guest [more]

I was formerly an embedded tutor for Phil 12:Introduction to Logic at my college. I received the highest score among all sections in Spring 2017, finishing with over 100%. I have been a tutor at my college for about a year and have tutored independently before that. I am an honors program student with experience in multiple subjects such as English, Political Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Math up until Calculus. Last semester, I won Tutor of the Week at my college for receiving positive feedback via tutor compliments. Also, I have experience working with children who have [more]

As a teacher of science and mathematics, I have had to teach the subject of logic as part of my lessons on numerous occasions. One could easily assume that it is axiomatic that I be familiar with logic, if only on an informal basis. However, I have formal experience. My experience includes the use of logic circuits in computing and decoding outcomes from inputs into circuit composed of AND OR NAND and NOR gates. I also have studied and taught Logic as a formal course Deductive and Inductive reasoning, and proving the validity or fallacy of statements, assumptions, and positions using facts [more]

Since receiving my Ph.D. from the Logic and Philosophy of Science department at UC Irvine (in 2004), I have been teaching Logic at local colleges since 2005. In 2005, I taught the Language, Proof, and Logic textbook, but since then I have been using the Power of Logic. The classes I have taught have been billed as "Symbolic Logic", "Introduction to Logic", and "Logic and Critical Thinking." If you need a Logic tutor, then I'm the tutor you need. In addition to tutoring Logic, I also teach it at a local community college. So I know what a professor in the class is looking for, because I am [more]
