I studied Logic while in college and received an A in the course. I also used logic extensively in advanced math courses. My experience includes helping students think more analytically, construct Venn diagrams, construct truth tables, and solve LSAT logic games. I've been a math teacher and an adjunct professor. I taught at Duke University and began tutoring over 20 years ago. Through my experience teaching students of all ages, including teens and adults, I've seen the importance of adapting my teaching to the learning style of each person. I also have several years of experience applying m [more]

I have taken multiple courses in mathematical logic, theory of computation, model theory, Boolean algebra, and digital design at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at University of Maryland, UNCG, and NC State. Additionally, I passed a PhD qualifying exam in the subject. Note that I am not as familiar with the techniques that are typically used in formal logic courses taught in philosophy departments. Note: I am currently booked to capacity. However, please get in touch if you would like to discuss tutoring over the winter break or the following semester/quarter. Thank you for your int [more]

I took a college course in Logic while still in high school, and was a Philosophy and Mathematics double major at Providence College. Then, during my graduate studies in Philosophy at the Catholic University of America, I took a course in Symbolic Logic. Finally, I have taught a college course in introductory Logic. After being trained in standardized test instruction by Kaplan (the leading test prep company), I have logged over 2,000 hours as a tutor over the last three years. In addition to tutoring, I teach Philosophy as an adjunct professor at the University of Mary Washington in Frederic [more]

I have always had strong problem-solving and reasoning skills, which have helped me succeed in all areas of study, especially mathematics. I also enjoy solving logic puzzles. I took the LSAT, a logic and reasoning test, on a whim and scored a 92%. My strong communication abilities allow to me explain reasoning process to others, which helps them comprehend how to reach the solution. Hi! I love helping people, which is why I've chosen to be a tutor. Whether it's elementary-school-aged children learning the fundamentals, high school students preparing to take their ACTs, SATs or a class te [more]

I have a Masters degree in pure mathematics. I have taken several undergraduate classes in logic and have taught the subject to Liberal Arts students. I have a passion for Math. I have been teaching and tutoring part time for the last 25 years. While in college, I was on the Putnam Intercollegiate Math Competition team for 3 consecutive years, and won several math competitions. I had a 4.0 GPA in math as an undergraduate (graduating with more than twice the number of required credit hours in math). I also obtained a perfect score in Computer Science (20 out of 20) while a student at the Univer [more]

I have a MS in Mathematics specializing abstract algebra and a PhD in Applied Mathematics specializing numerical analysis. As a part of my study in mathematics, I took several causes related to logic. At NCSU, I taught a course in mathematics for college students majoring business focusing in logic. I am a PhD Mathematician and a software engineer with tutoring experience in USA, Germany, and Korea. I have many years of tutoring experience as well as experience in teaching college classes and mentoring interns (calculus, linear algebra, finite mathematics, discrete mathematics, computer pr [more]

I have completed graduate level coursework in metalogic and modal logic, and applied this knowledge in fields like computer science. My educational background is extensive. I attended the University of Delaware, where I earned three majors (physics, computer science, and cognitive science) and three minors (philosophy, mathematics, and political science). I later earned a law degree from the University of Virginia. In other words, I have spent far too many years of my life in school. In addition to school, I've worked in multiple fields, as a computer programmer and a First Amendment lawyer. [more]

The area in which I scored the highest on my GRE was logic. Each week I provide my students with a variety of logic puzzles for their Friday bellringer activity. We do analogies, riddles, and logical conundrums. In addition, the science teacher across the hall and I have regular logic competitions, where the two classes challenge each other by devising logic tests for each other. As a 20-year veteran at a 6-12 grade alternative school, I have a wide variety of methods for helping students learn in a multitude of disciplines. I teach all levels of 9-12 English, from basic to advanced, inclu [more]

The study and understanding of deductive logic has been crucial in my understanding of higher math (e.g. ring theory). I have also taken courses in college on logic (in general) towards both a math and computer science degree. I'm an undergraduate studying Mathematics and Computer Science at UDC, and I also have an associates degree in Computer Science. Moreover, I have experience tutoring my peers from when I was in high school and for a few months during my first semester of college when I helped teach a high school AP Computer Science class; it was a very rewarding experience. This is along [more]

Logic is the basis of all pure math courses for which I have a bachelors degree in. I also have 18+ master's credits in pure mathematics courses. I am a secondary mathematics teacher with an advanced professional teaching certificate and six years of experience. I also have eleven years of tutoring experience. As an undergraduate student, I took on tutoring as a part time job and I have loved tutoring ever since. It brings me joy to share my knowledge with students and to experience the "ah ha!" moments with them as concepts begin to make sense. My specialty is in tutoring various levels of [more]
