I teach a class at Livingstone College that contains a chapter on Logic. I have taught this class for two consecutive semesters. I have also taken numerous logic classes in college. I have a love for all mathematics and love to help students succeed. I have a BS and MA in Mathematics Education. I also have an MA in Instructional Technology. I love to teach and I love mathematics. I have spent most of my teaching career teaching students who do not have a love for mathematics. However, I enjoy the challenge of helping students get over the anxiety and overcoming past negative educational e [more]

I have tutored Logic when it was included in an advanced course. Although I took Logic in college, I have not tutored it as a stand-alone subject. Since logic is used in proving theorems, I have tutored it many times. I tutor to the individual needs, so if my student knows how to do truth tables but does not know how to make a valid argument, then I only teach making the argument. I use whatever will help my student to learn the subject. I have tutored privately since 1974 even when teaching high school or working in an office. I am able to tutor Math from Kindergarten through College leve [more]

I have computer-related Bachelor's and Masters degrees heavy on programming and 17 1/2 years experience as a computer programmer. Logic is a foundation of my career. As a teen I loved working the logic-grid word puzzles "Sally, Bob, and Jane were riding a bus ... who sat in the window seat?" Currently, I enjoy working Sudoku which is after all just a logic puzzle using the numbers 1-9. I have a Master's of Information Technology and 17+ years of Computer programming experience; A certificate in C/C++ programming. I have taught 4th & 5th graders to program in BASIC and tutored college stu [more]

I have an extensive quantitative background, including numerous methods, mathematics, and deductive logic courses. TEACHING/ TUTORING APPROACH: I view teaching as a calling, rather than a job. Needless to say, I am very passionate about teaching and helping students improve. I take an individualized approach to each student. That is, I try to figure out what works best for them. I believe in focusing on developing lasting understanding of concepts involved, rather than memorizing. I believe that knowing WHY something is the case makes a subject a lot easier (not to mention more fun). BACKGROU [more]

I have coached students in math competitions for 6 years which include various tests specifically on Logic. I have also sponsored a debate society at my last school and have treated with my students various types of arguments and fallacies both there and in my theology classes. As part of my studies at Ave Maria University and at St. John's Seminary, I took several classes in Philosophy. I also hold a degree in Computer Science from MIT. Greetings! Do you need a little extra help with math? Whether it?s all Greek to you or as easy as ?, I can give you the extra edge you desire. I am an MIT al [more]

I have taken multiple courses in mathematical logic, theory of computation, model theory, Boolean algebra, and digital design at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at University of Maryland, UNCG, and NC State. Additionally, I passed a PhD qualifying exam in the subject. Note that I am not as familiar with the techniques that are typically used in formal logic courses taught in philosophy departments. I have been tutoring and teaching basic algebra through advanced undergraduate level* math for over 10 years. My students and clients have consistently praised my patience and clarity. Du [more]

I studied Logic while in college and received an A in the course. I also used logic extensively in advanced math courses. My experience includes helping students think more analytically, construct Venn diagrams, construct truth tables, and solve LSAT logic games. I've been a math teacher and an adjunct professor. I taught at Duke University and began tutoring over 20 years ago. Through my experience teaching students of all ages, including teens and adults, I've seen the importance of adapting my teaching to the learning style of each person. I also have several years of experience applying m [more]

I have been teaching college Mathematics at the Forsyth Tech Community College. The classes I taught included the Mat140 course which in turn included a section on logic. Logic is in fact my favorite part of Mathematics as in my opinion it expands the mind and teaches skills that have limitless applications. I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, and have lived in USA for over 14 years. Writing has always been my passion but I also hold a Masters degree in Mathematics from St. Petersburg State University and certificate in Business Administration from St. Petersburg' Institute of Eco [more]

As part of my graduate work I have completed two math courses designed to enhance my knowledge of math theory. While completing these courses (algebraic structures and analysis), I have become proficient at morphing logic and set theory to successfully form mathematical arguments. I am very confident I would be able to tutor high school students in the use of logic. I have extensive experience with students grades 6-12. During 15 years of teaching I have instructed 6th grade mathematics, 7th grade mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus (Trigonometry) and Calculus. In addit [more]

I have tutored logic for nine years with homeschool classes. I have used both Traditional Logic I and II and Introductory and Intermediate Logic. Both of these curricula are used in both public and private school systems. Traditional Logic I is an introduction to Formal Logic. It is a study of the classical syllogism and formal fallacies. Traditional Logic trains the mind to respect truth. It is a High school level text book. Traditional Logic II is Advanced Formal Logic. It is also a High school level text book. It continues the study of deductive inference with the treatment of fi [more]
