During my undergraduate studies I got a 3.8 in a logic course, and during my graduate studies I got a 3.7 in a deductive reasoning course. On the logic section of the GRE test I was at the 91 percentile score level. I regularly use logical reasoning when explaining math to students, during my own graduate studies - MS in Mathematics earned 2012, and in every day life. I have 15 years of experience teaching mathematics to students of all ages and backgrounds, but I especially enjoy tutoring students one-on-one where I can focus on the student's individual learning needs. I have taught and tu [more]

I have taken 2 undergraduate logic courses, and 1 undergraduate/graduate course in logic and its metatheory. I have also taught my own introductory logic course (at Michigan State University). I have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in philosophy, and I have taught introductory logic and introductory ethics courses. I am currently a doctoral student in philosophy at the University of California-San Diego, where I am a graduate teaching assistant for introductory philosophy courses and humanities courses. I have also tutored several WyzAnt students in logic and moral philosophy. So I a [more]

As an undergraduate, I took multiple classes, in the Computer Science and Math departments, that covered formal logic. I'm somewhat personally interested in the history and philosophy of logic, and have read books on the subject. I'm a solid tutor with an advanced education and around ten years of experience tutoring and teaching. Many of my previous clients have called me the best tutor they ever had. I hope you'll agree. I have helped students in a number of challenging subjects, including Math, Statistics, Computer Science, and Psychology. I have experience and practice tutoring these subj [more]

Since receiving my Ph.D. from the Logic and Philosophy of Science department at UC Irvine (in 2004), I have been teaching Logic at local colleges since 2005. In 2005, I taught the Language, Proof, and Logic textbook, but since then I have been using the Power of Logic. The classes I have taught have been billed as "Symbolic Logic", "Introduction to Logic", and "Logic and Critical Thinking." My goal is to help you learn math, and to come to see that math is useful, interesting, and fun. I teach all kinds of math, but my specialty is pre-calculus (Algebra and Trigonometry). When I was a stu [more]

Logic the study of the principles of valid inference and correct reasoning. Formal fallacies and formal arguments are part of Logic. Being able to make logical arguments and detect fallacies in arguments. Every student is different and has different needs. As an experienced Math Professor, I am able to utilize several different methods to help any student learn the material, which translates very well for in person tutoring. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate in Philosophy of Math Education at ASU. I do my best to stay current with the best teaching and tutoring strategies and adapt a [more]

I have taken a few math classes that use logic. I had to take Set Theory during my Bachelor's degree which involves lots of complicated logic. Also I took Probability Theory which uses logic. So I have a couple of perspectives on the subject. I am a young college student who is majored in Mathematics. I enjoy helping students understand math because it is my favorite subject. I have an Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from CSUSB of Fall 2016. I can tutor, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus and above. I have taken a class that covers the theory of [more]

I had learned computer logic when I was attending University of Texas at Arlington. Because of my training, I am very familiar with Flowchart and Pseudocode and have used these two tools to show logic statements. Furthermore, I am familiar with Visual Logic Pro which is the tool could be used to produce various logic statements including condition, repetition, and sequence. I have worked for various companies such as IBM, General Dynamics, Boeing Company, and Southern California Edison as a computer programmer. During the period of working for those companies, I had developed flowcharts and p [more]

I majored in philosophy at U.C. Berkeley, and logic was one of the core competencies of the curriculum. Among my coursework was a class dedicated solely to logic and another one was dedicated to analyzing fallacies. After that I earned two more degrees. Since then I have spent 18 years as a professional orator, and logic is a key component of persuasive oratory. TEACHING EXPERIENCE I've had vast experience in teaching and tutoring, including teaching history and philosophy at a graduate level, mentoring college students, and college career prep with high school students. I have taken two logic courses at SDSU during 2011 and 2010 from Professor Carl Eckberg during my MA in Math teaching. They were in the computer science and the math departments but both covered logic including truth tables, circuits and more. I have been teaching both accounting and computer science at Palomar College part time since 2002. I also have a BS in Math, a California Single Subject Math Teaching Credential and will be earning an MA in Math Teaching by the end of 2012. I have been tutoring math and other subjects since 2004.
