During my undergraduate studies I got a 3.8 in a logic course, and during my graduate studies I got a 3.7 in a deductive reasoning course. On the logic section of the GRE test I was at the 91 percentile score level. I regularly use logical reasoning when explaining math to students, during my own graduate studies - MS in Mathematics earned 2012, and in every day life. I have 15 years of experience teaching mathematics to students of all ages and backgrounds, but I especially enjoy tutoring students one-on-one where I can focus on the student's individual learning needs. I have taught and tu [more]

I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles. I completed two lower-division philosophy courses in Logic as an undergraduate, one of which is now an upper-division philosophy course in the philosophy department at UCLA. These Logic courses were instructed by a world-renowned logician in the Philosophy department at UCLA by the name of David Kaplan, via a software program he authored, Logic 2000. I am a Top 1% WyzAnt Tutor and can provide verification from WyzAnt CEO Andrew Geant himself upon request. Please review my credentials and qual [more]

Logic is one of my core areas of research interest and is the area I have the most experience teaching in. I have taken numerous graduate-level courses in logic, including Modal Logic and Metalogic. I developed and taught a university-level course covering both Propositional (Sentential) and Predicate (Quantificational) Logic. I have also worked with USC faculty to develop online resources for teaching and learning introductory logic, aimed at making the material accessible to visual learners unfamiliar with formal languages. I teach math at a community college, including a geometry course specifically designed to teach proofs of theorems. I have passed all three CSET exams in mathematics. I have over 28 years of experience using math as a software developer. My master's thesis in Computer Science was entitled "Provably Correct Software Design in an Embedded Real-Time Application." The emphasis of my MBA was Statistics and Operations Research. The first of my two undergraduate majors was in mathematics. Experience: Antelope Valley College Math Teacher, Sylvan Teacher, Substitute Teacher (K-12), Individual Tut [more]

I took the following logic related courses at the undergraduate level: 1) Critical Thinking 2) Reasoning Under Uncertainty (Bayesian probability) 3) Logic. I took a course in Advanced Logic at the graduate level. I got a 4.0 on all these courses. I graduated with honors in Philosophy from Pitzer College, where I did my Master's thesis on the topic of animal ethics within the society-centered meta-ethical view. I am able to assist with virtually any topic in philosophy, as well as English and writing. I specialize in helping my students formulate strong positions and argue well for those po [more]

My undergraduate degree program required frequent usage of logic. In addition, essentially all advanced mathematics and physics courses use mathematical logic frequently. I have 5+ years of experience both analyzing and constructing mathematical proofs. I am a physics Ph.D student at the University of California, Riverside. I have worked as a Mathematics tutor there for around 3 years. I graduated from St. John's College with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts, which breaks down into a double major in the History of Math and Science, and Philosophy, and a double major in Classical Studies and [more]

I had learned computer logic when I was attending University of Texas at Arlington. Because of my training, I am very familiar with Flowchart and Pseudocode and have used these two tools to show logic statements. Furthermore, I am familiar with Visual Logic Pro which is the tool could be used to produce various logic statements including condition, repetition, and sequence. I have worked for various companies such as IBM, General Dynamics, Boeing Company, and Southern California Edison as a computer programmer. During the period of working for those companies, I had developed flowcharts and p [more]

In my Logic class, I was one of the two top students, and was thus given an entire semester to informally tutor each student in the class. I prevented students from forgetting lessons taught prior in order to solve specific logic problems. Furthermore, logic and linguistics is what I plan on studying for both my Bachelor's degree, and in Grad School as well. I am willing to give my reference when asked. I have tutoring experience at Palomar College through both their STEM and STAR programs; I have always been able to enthusiastically, expediently and efficiently tutor students in philosophy an [more]

I majored in philosophy at U.C. Berkeley, and logic was one of the core competencies of the curriculum. Among my coursework was a class dedicated solely to logic and another one was dedicated to analyzing fallacies. After that I earned two more degrees. Since then I have spent 18 years as a professional orator, and logic is a key component of persuasive oratory. TEACHING EXPERIENCE I've had vast experience in teaching and tutoring, including teaching history and philosophy at a graduate level, mentoring college students, and college career prep with high school students. I've been a guest [more]
