The difference between NeedleArts is the backing one works on whether it be fabric or canvas. Any stitch can be duplicated in all the different NeedleArts. My theory is there are only 2 stitches, a long one and a short one. If you stitch them vertical or horizontal or at a slant, it is the same stitch just named differently.
