I have always enjoyed teaching and tutoring. Even when I studied for my own classes, I would always study in groups and would help teach others concepts I had already mastered. My first official teaching position was as a Teacher's Assistant at Kalamazoo College in General Chemistry my senior year at Kalamazoo College. My job was to lead a group of 10 students through a review/homework session once a week. This job was both interesting and enjoyable and I was able to help students really unde... [more]

Physicist and physics instructor, passionate about teaching! I live in Cary and work in Sanford. Accordingly I've updated my "home" and travel radius to reflect my preference for tutoring along the HWY 1 corridor between the two cities. The universe is a vast and incredible place full of jaw-droppingly astonishing phenomena. Understanding them better brings context to our everyday lives, where critical thinking and problem solving are key components of a successful career in any field. I am a PhD student at NCSU studying Nuclear Engineering, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I am married without kids, with 2 chihuahua mix dogs, and practice horticulture in my spare time. While doing my undergrad degree I frequently tutored underclassmen and peers as a teachers assistant, supplemental calculus instructor, and through leading study groups. I got great satisfaction out of helping students understand whatever material was in question. In tutoring success isn't measured ... [more]

I did tutor high school kids during my college years. During my graduate studies, I tutored both summer program studen... [more]

My BS is in physics so I have had much training in the area. Much math is required for the BS so I am also well qualified to do the math involved in the work. Last thing is that I have students who appreciate the help I give when they need it so I believe I can help in this kind of situation. I am currently a physics teacher who works with students in our school from several different backgrounds as well as students with IEP's. Subjects with which I have worked range from my specialty- physics- to other sciences, to many levels of math, to English from simple grammar exercises to writing re [more]

I have experience tutoring math from counting to calculus, and am comfortable tutoring at any grade level. Throughout college, I tutored fellow classmates in chemistry, was a TA for Calculus 1 my senior year, and tutored Algebra 1 and 2. After graduating with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a minor in Mathematics, I worked for nearly a year at a well known math tutoring center where I was able to hone my tutoring skills and teach a variety of Common Core math subjects including, but not l...
