Daryl's Math, Physics and Programming: I have lived in the Ithaca area for many years while performing computer programming, software engineering and computer security research. Although my job experience has been in computer science, my passion is for the natural sciences and mathematics. I graduated from Northwestern University?s Integrated Sciences Program, whose purpose is to give students a rigorous background in a broad array of science fields, including mathematics, biology, che... I tutor math, computer science and physics. I have experience tutoring high school and college students. I have also developed educational events (treasure hunts) for elementary school children. I earned my B.S. in Mathematics from Michigan State University. I have 20 years experience as a mathematician, software engineer and executive for the DOD and in the financial industry. My approach to tutoring is to work with the student to determine exactly where they are having a problem and t... [more]

Tutoring is a passion of mine. I love to be in front of my class giving a lecture, but having the time to work with a student one-on-one is very rewarding. The sense of relief that students feel when they realize that the big test they are preparing for is not as daunting as they once believed is special to witness. Teaching is in my blood. My parents are both teachers and my wife is a teacher. Its what we all love to do. Science can be very intimidating, so one of my goals with each and ... [more]

I am a recent graduate of SUNY Oswego. I double majored in physics and math and acquired a cumulative GPA of 3.76. I have experience with various math and physics subjects, including Calculus, Differential Equations, Matrix (Linear) Algebra, Statistics, Classical Mechanics, E&M, Modern Physics, and Quantum Physics. I have tutored a few people over the past year, and I have also been given the opportunity to teach class for a day on two different occasions in college. In addition, I have... [more]

Hi my name is Kevin. I have a PhD in biomechanics, and have a successfully taught physics and math to a broad range of students. I enjoy teaching, and find success in conveying concepts through practical examples, from every day life, which helps the student relate to and understand the material. Typical feedback from my students is that I provide a learning and problem solving approach which makes the material easy to master. I have been successful teaching at the University level and tuto... [more]

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin and I share similar philosophies on the art of teaching. It is not simply enough to give someone information if they don't know what to do with it; rather, it is imperative to make the experience as immersive and personal as possible. That is what I aim to do as your tutor. I don't want you to remember what to write on a test, I want you to learn the subject so that you might be able... [more]

As a graduate student in engineering, I have taught and assisted teaching Physics-based engineering courses for undergraduates, such as Statics and Mechanics. As a high school student I took the AP Physics C exam, and scored a 5, so I am familiar with the subject material and the AP test content. When tutoring physics, I use examples to help clarify concepts, and then I focus as much time as possible on working through practice problems to ensure that the students understand both the concepts as well as the applications. I can teach Algebra, Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics. I have tutored online, but I much prefer teaching in person. I have two children now in college, at Ivy League schools. I was their primary caregiver throughout their childhood, and helped them with their schoolwork whenever they needed it. They both took math up through AP calculus (one of them took Calculus BC). One of them took AP Chemistry, the other took AP Physics, so I have seen some of the work done in those classes. My... [more]
